多爾諾奇城堡飯店(Dornoch Castle Hotel)

This is our second visit to Dornoch Castle, and there’s always the worry that a second stay won’t live up to the magic of the first. We needn’t have worried though - we had a wonderful visit once again and are now even more enthralled with the Castle and the amazing staff. The castle is clean, full of wonderful character and has lots of lovely, quirky details. The beer garden is a great space to spend a sunny afternoon, the bar is atmospheric and the perfect place to sample some good, old Scottish hospitality. Our room was sunny, beautifully clean and had everything we needed. Reception staff, house keeping, bar and restaurant staff were kept busy, and managed to smile their way through some very long shifts. They were engaging and helpful and a real credit to the hotel. The restaurant was just as fabulous as we remembered too. Great atmosphere, attentive staff and the food was superb. So good, we didn’t remember to take those Instagram worthy photographs of our meal choices, we just dived in! An absolute treat! We really can’t wait to book our next visit - this place is a wee gem!

Great location and customer service. Staying in an old castle has its draw backs ( no elevator with room on 4th floor) , smaller rooms but well worth the experience. Food was good with a nice selection. The bar is a fantastic scotch bar with very comfortable seating and atmosphere with a great fireplace. Staff was superb and can tell they are trained well and enjoy their job. Enjoyed our stay here very much and will be back agin(. 3rd time here)

This hotel has so much character and the staff are so accommodating and friendly that any little inconveniences are quickly forgotten and negated. We stayed in the Old Court Room that had so much character. The daily decanter of sherry was an exceptionally nice touch and a heart warmer after a chilly day out and about. We did have our share of incidents like the fire alarm going off at 2:30 in the morning and a water leak from the room above from possibly an overfilled bath however, for us that was all part of the adventure and experience. The shower over bath was the only disappointing aspect. The bath could fill easily in 10 minutes with the water pressure but the corresponding shower would take 10 hours with it's severe lack of pressure, to the point it was difficult to shower properly with such inadequate pressure. We dined in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner with breakfast wholesome and filling. We found the dinner menu sparse but the food was very nice. Overall we loved the hotel, its character and the staff. We would stay again without a doubt.

Food was not good. After being ignored for a short time before being directed to our table, the service did improve, however the food was awful. Charcuterie board sharing plate was £25 and came with plenty of salami, a small dish of hummus and just 2 small triangles of bread. There were 3 sharing. The pizza was burnt on the base so the whole thing tasted charred and the chicken in the caesar salad was undercooked with red veins going through it. Other guests were obviously fed up with the service too. We complained and the items were deducted from the bill, but it spoiled the night.

An amazing experience in a part of what was a "real castle". We were given a warm greeting on arrival and personally show to our room that was up several flights of stairs. The room was spacious, clean with a pleasant garden view. There is a small bar/ whisky tasting area. There is also a cozy seating area around a fire. We enjoyed a pleasant dinner and breakfast the next morning. Dunrobin Castle is just a short drive away. We would certainly return.

Expensive but jaded family rooms which smelt musty and not very clean, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was an impressive spread of hot and cold food, continental, cereals, pastries, fruit and more. Overpriced but atmospheric as one would expect for a building of its age!

My wife and I visited Dornoch and thought we would have a cosy drink in the Castle Hotel bar. When we arrived there was nobody behind the bar so I waited 5 minutes before a waitress approached me without saying anything , she simply brushed past me although I was invisible and then went off elsewhere. Shortly after the barman appeared and barely acknowledging me, started serving drinks for other people. I know bar staff are busy, but I would have expected some sort of welcome or be with you shortly sir, but nothing. So we took our business elsewhere and certainly won’t be returning.

Lovely old castle turned hotel. The rooms were comfortable and had nice touches like robes and slippers. The whiskey room was very cozy and the food in the restaurant met all our needs. The employees there were friendly and helpful, we had an issue with locking the door to one of our rooms and they helped resolve this instantly. I would definitely go back.

We were really looking forward to staying at the Castle Hotel, the most expensive we booked on our trip. Our room was ok, but needed some tlc, a few stains on the carpet, tear in the duvet cover and one of the easy chairs lacked any stuffing! Dinner choice was very limited, fish and chips disappointing although the fish special was good. Breakfast buffet was fine but lacked many hot options. Coffee was excellent. Worst of all was the fire alarm at 1am apparently caused by a spider, so an awful sleep.
