維京旅館(Viking Lodge Motel)

I was moved from the Viking lodge to another of his properties in another area. I got there around 5:30 pm, the key was in the door, no one around and this town has no restaurant. So, no supper tonight as the closest place to eat is 39 kilometres away and I did not feel like doing that driving after a long day. Also the TV would not work and the network is insecure and super slow. This is just bad luck and this is not supposed to go in a review of any kind.

I had been tent camping but the weather turned unusually cold, rainy and windy. Viking Lodge was near the Viking settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland where I was headed. I didn't really know what to expect but the host was super friendly, accomodating and wanted guests to have a wonderful experience. I've stayed in posher hotels but did not have such a friendly, warm experience.

The lodge was beautiful with an upscale cabin feel. The area and view were beautiful. The owner was welcoming and friendly. The continental breakfast was great. The tap water was fresh right out of a well. The only negative feedback I could give would be to say the bathroom in the room didn't have a fan so it can get very steamy and the properties hot water boiler must be very small because after two people shower in the morning the hot water is gone. I would definitely stay again

Charming country property once you find it. Note to travelers, do not depend on GPS to find this establishment, rather follow written/printed instructions and road signs. Lovely venue for a wedding party.

We booked a 2 night stay & prepaid. Property was clean, room was ready, we booked a bay view, but got a back, road view. However we did get changed to bay view (there were only a few rooms occupied). The weather was terrible (of course not property fault), heavy rain 59 mm, wind, dense fog and only 2 degrees Celsius, the lodge was in a very remote area on the ocean. The road in was partially washed out, with water running across it in 3 areas. We drove over half culvert. After midnight power went out, so no heat, no water, no usable toilets. In our room #12, no flashlights or smoke detectors. In the morning went outside to checkin office to ask about when power may return, but unknown at that time. The nearest washroom, heat, water, etc. was in St Anthony, about 26 km away. As the weather was still bad, the road may become completely impassible, we didn’t know when the power would return and we are in our seventies, cold is a issue for us ,we decided it was safer for us to leave. We asked for our money back for the the 2nd night which we were not using but they refused, then they offered if the power didn’t come back on by that night, then they would refund. In the night it would be unsafe for us to drive out. We could not take the chance for the above reasons and left. All in all, very disappointing. p.s. this is my first time ever writing a poor review.

The Viking Lodge Motel is an isolated location right on the water - so quiet. Think about where you will get an evening meal as the nearest restaurant is about 25km away.

Le viking lodge est très confortable, parfaitement propre, très joli (on se sent comme dans une petit chalet) et donne accès à un hottub. Belle vue également sur la mer. Je recommande fortement.

This is one of the nicest properties we have stayed we loved it, nice beds, nice decor, scenery was awesome and it was nice to have the continental breakfast

Great breakfast room. Great outdoor kitchen. Great deck. Nice firepit area too. Rooms are in good shape and clean. Nice view. Quiet.
