I spent one night at the Hollywood ****** at Greektown. I did not visit the ******. I was looking for a nice place to stay for the night. The hotel grounds were 4-stars. I arrived around 7 PM. It took some time to check in because I had to wait for a number of others who qualified for the VIP check-in line.
I stayed in a basic, twin queen room. The room and bathroom were nice and modern. Shortly after getting into my room, bright exterior lights turned on - shining in the direction of my room. I couldn't see what they were illuminating, but if I had to guess, it was perhaps the hotel name written on the exterior. Those lights stayed on all night. The drapes didn't completely cover the windows, so my room was illuminated all night. The room stayed one temperature despite what the thermostat was set to. There was an intermittent hum coming from the in-wall heater as if it was revving up. I ultimately slept with earplugs.
I am have been able to overlook the illuminated room, dysfunctional thermostat, and intermittent hum if I was there for other reasons than to sleep, like to visit the ******, or go out.
On a recent visit to Detroit, we stayed at the Inn on Ferry Street for the 2nd time, and it will most certainly be our last. After a late arrival we dropped our bags and ran to get a bite to eat. On our return to the room i first noticed spay of some description all over the mirror in the bathroom. then i noticed the drips and streaks down the tissue box holder. I grabbed a wet wipe and wiped down the mirror, ok not a huge deal. In the morning and in the daylight, my husband noticed crusted on vomit down the side of his night stand, as well as a sticky top with sticky glass rings. I had a look and noticed it was down the front of the side table drawers as well. Yuck! As we left the room that day, I stopped by reception to tell them, they apologized and said they would get on it right away and give me a small compensation for the dirty room. Later that afternoon we returned, only to find the vomit had not been cleaned. I had had enough of looking at it by this point and got the wet wipes out and cleaned it all. If we hadn't been on such a tight schedule we would have changed hotels. My friends were also staying at the hotel and couldn't believe it. I mentioned it again to reception and they apologized again. The next morning our room was not cleaned at all. The rates on the hotel room were not cheap and for the price I would certainly expect a clean room. If this is what you could see and they missed it twice, it makes you wonder what, if anything, had been wiped or sanitized. I checked out of the hotel and and advised I would like to speak to a manager, however no one was available to speak to. The hotel gave me a small $70 credit and told me to phone the manager. Since my return home, I have sent two emails with no response. I would have expected to receive an acknowledgement at least one of the three nights to be compensated. Clearly there is a lack of cleanliness and management at this hotel. If you want filth and vomit in your room. This is the place for you!
Immaculate Hotel. Furnishings are very high end. Rooms are spotless. Restaurant attached was great as well. Check in was handled by a gentleman named Kolby who was very attentive and professional. Really couldn't have asked for a better experience.
