經典英國溪谷飯店度假村(Vale Resort)

What an excellent place to stay. We came for a family wedding and were made welcome throughput our stay. Hotel and staff were exceptional as was the castle! Food was put of this world, even for me who has coeliac so needs gluten free! Hotel shuttled us between the Vale and the Castle which was a God send for those wearing heels! We paid for a basic room, let me say there was nothing basic about it!! Huge comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom with a walk in shower, the usual tea, coffee, water etc, if this was basic I would never leave the higher grade rooms! Diolch yn fair iawn, thank you very much, it was a pleasure to be your guests.

Took my mam for a spa night away for her birthday. The food was awful at the bar to the point where we could not eat. We were both starving the next day. Also uncomfortable going through the reception and bar area to get to the spa and the whirlpool was cold.

Coupd not get any phone signal in my hotel room. Rooms are very dated. Carpets felt unclean and tired. Hotel bar / restaurant very busy, no tables available. Tried room service and was told it would be over an hour. Asked for clarity as over an hour could be 5 hours, 2 days, a week... but they were not sure and couldn't provide a more certain time, so I had to leave the resort and head into town and had a filthy unhealthy McDonalds. Not impressed overall.

The check-in staff and house staff were excellent all 10/10. We had food in the bar at night including inviting someone to join us and I would have struggled to give the service2/10. The food was very disappointing and something as simple as chips - they were awful. There was one young man serving behind the bar and he did try his very best.I did have something taken off the bill but not to the value of food and service.To summarise room/service excellent food awful.

First of all check in was good, reception are really helpful but then it went down hill. Bar area was dreadful really not enough staff working here, even what seemed the quieter periods on a Sunday afternoon there was a 30-40 minute wait for a drink, thought bar staff looked fed up and made us feel like we were putting them out. Had to go to the room and pay a £5 charge just to get drinks in a reasonable time. Outside on the bar terrace on a lovely night we were unable to sit due to a gathering of 15+ men round a table being very loud and boisterous with foul language. At the room it seems these boys were staying under our floor and kept us up all night. I made phone call to reception which didn’t help so then after recording the rowdiness we were putting up with I went to visit the reception in the early hours to ask for a refund and that due to alcohol we were happy to get a taxi home the 20 miles to get some sleep. Refund was not possible as I had booked with yourselves and not them direct. They talked me round and said they would sort out the noise which they did until around 3am when it started up again. Being told they have a lot of golfing holidays was not acceptable as if I wanted a party a**osphere to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary with my wife who is not well at the moment and needed to relax I could have booked to go to Benidorm. Won’t ever be staying here again or recommending it and we go away quite often as a family of 5.

********* forgot to send the reservation confirmation to the hotel. Ended up we spent an hour and a half to get ********* to sort out the problem. The hotel staff was ok but not very helpful. We have been given a roof on the top floor next to the atrium stair. The black out blinds do not block out the atrium light and we have to use different chairs to keep the blind against the wall to reduce the incoming light. We ended up sleeping for 3 hours max before another 5 hours of driving on the next day. Covid measure on the breakfast bar was very good. The food quality can definitely be improved. It was a very disappointing stay. It did not measure up with the beautifully landscaped golf course.

Got my bar and restaurant bill wrong 4 times. Hand sanitiser machines empty. Poor choice of food in the restaurant. Half the TV channels don’t work. A 3 star hotel masquerading as something more. Certainly not a resort!

The room with balcony was lovely and large, my partner wanted a bath but unfortunately there was no seal on the bath plug! Busy, didn't pre book dinner, 9pm option to dine, had some bread, waited and dinner arrived at 10pm, too late to enjoy. long wait for drinks at the bar in the afternoon, not enough staff serving especially as the Rugby was on, my partners vodka & mixer was served in a half pint pepsi glass filled to the top, drowned it, had to ask for another in a smaller glass. We had some bar snacks, chicken goujons, chips, but sent garlic bread back, burnt and not worth the money. We paid for breakfast as extra but had it refunded as the que for a table was too long. We've been to this hotel a few times before and enjoyed our time there, spa, food and rooms, the reason i booked was for my partners birthday, a shame that it wasn't the stay we would've liked for a special occasion. We have both agreed that we were disappointed with our stay this weekend.
