I recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton St. Louis using a high number of Marriott Bonvoy points, nearly equivalent to some of the nicest Ritz Carltons in the U.S., but the experience was quite disappointing. It was one of the busiest weekends at the property, and it really showed. I had previously stayed here and found it dated but charming and cozy. This time, the elevators were broken, with wait times up to 20 minutes. Coffee was never refilled by 8:00 a.m., and the only other option was the restaurant, where a single, overwhelmed employee was trying their best. My room was dirty, and I had to clean the bathroom myself. The grime and dust near the elevators were especially bad, with ”Dust me” written in the dirt and beer bottles left around. Room service was also overwhelmed, and there was no turn-down service. For the high number of points I used, I was hoping for a cozy, relaxing weekend, but it fell far short of expectations. The furniture was old and frayed. The front desk staff, however, remained lovely despite everything.
