This is my second time returning to the hotel after my first trip. They remembered my name as I arrived which shows great attention to detail with customer care. I upgraded to the suite for this particular visit and honestly it was a great decision. Look forward to visiting them again when I go back to South Africa in a year’s time.
My husband and I stayed here twice while travelling through Joberg. It's nestled in a fantastic location close to Rosebank Arts and Crafts Market and ”The Zone” which has many nice restaurants/bars. As an added bonus it is also directly connected to Rosebank Mall. The hotel's modern rooms provide a comfortable haven, while the staff are all very lovely and helpful.
We really appreciated the boutique and quirky ambience of the hotel. Clearly the hotel has grown organically and the layout is a little complex which is interesting to uncover. Each space is full of character and very comfortable. Staff are charming and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. We stayed in the Pool Villa one night which we loved, due to a leak we were moved to the Madiba Suite for our second night which has a huge private deck. Both suites were lovely, comfortable and well designed. Spa treatments were very good. We would happily stay again and recommend.
I have to underrate the service because for 2 accasions there were no towels in the room, I have to call the reception and ask for it and once, I found a used toilet paper roll in the bathroom.
This hotel was the worst experience of all my travels. I was travelling for business and my partner and I were going onto Pilanesberg for a few days safari. On checking in, the room we have booked was not available. The new room was much smaller. I left my partner while I went to a business meeting. She thought the bed smelt and on stripping back the sheet, she found the mattress protector was badly stained. The mattress itself even worse. Housekeeping came and changed all the bedding and turned the mattresses over. The room contained a dangerously positioned TV in a wooden enclosure with a sharp corner at eye level in the main walkway of the bedroom. The width of the walkway, (which formed the main direction of escape from the room) was made very narrow by the TV enclosure. During the first night, my partner got up in the early hours of the morning to go to the bathroom. The beside light was inoperative. In traversing the narrow section to get past the end of the bed, hit her eye on the corner of the TV enclosure. The collision broke the skin on her eyebrow which within 24 hours turned to a black eye. The hotel did not offer any first aid and responded by sticking some foam on the dangerous corners of the TV enclosure. They refused to offer another room. We asked to speak with the manager or the owner. After 2 days of asking the manager turned up and was the same person that purports to be the chef and the guy that fixed the light in our room. His name is Dario. Hostile from the start, he said it was not the hotel’s responsibility to provide first aid, he threateningly told my (female) partner to “get out of his space otherwise he would not be responsible for his actions” and said that if we did not pay the bill immediately, he would have his private security firm, throw us out. After insisting on getting an accident report, we paid the bill and left the following morning frightened and upset. As for the food, on the first night my partner wanted to try the tasting menu. That in itself was a challenge. The waiter told us the chef, (presumably the manager and maintenance man, Dario ) insisted that the whole table must have the same, yet if my business colleague and I moved to another table, my partner could have the tasting menu - go figure! We eventually persuaded him otherwise. The quality was at best amateurish and far short of the hotel claims. The chef claims to be self-taught and it shows. The scallops were not seared and drowned in herbs that completely overpowered their delicate flavour. The other courses in the tasting menu were little better. My business partner had a main course risotto that was so small he had to order another one. Breakfast was terible too. The omelette came out like a pizza, ingredients placed on top of hard, rubbery egg. There are much better hotels in the area. This is definitely one to avoid.
JJaikalaHotel is rated at 5star but the amenities are quite average. The standard king size room is smaller than I have experience in some other hotels if that range. You do not find water glasses in the room. Room service is very slow and sometimes your call will just keep transferring between room service and reception if you needed something. If you ordered food in your room, you have to make payment immediately. It does not amount up to check out. There is only one restaurant, one cafe in the hotel. You can walk up to nearest restaurant for your food that is 800m away.Pool is there but you have to carry your own towel. The day we arrived, there was a birthday party around the pool with loud music. We avoided going to pool side. Shoe shiner is in the lobby and if you get your shoes cleaned he needs to be paid as compliment and that complement begins with 100rand minimum. To me it’s an average hotel and ok for a couple of days. It had some conference going on so extra crowd was also in the lobby for the two days we stayed If you are looking for a luxery experience, better choose another hotel. This hotel is ok for not more than two days of stay.
訪訪客用戶This is an excellent ‘boutique’ hotel with rooms that are very different to standard hotels. Breakfast is excellent and staff are very nice, friendly, helpful and are available to help at any time. Location is convenient. There are a few shops - supermarket, pharmacy and small eateries nearby and the main Sandton area is only a short taxi ride away. Rooms are clean and bathroom is well-equipped. Best of all, I slept very well in a comfortable and quiet bed. All very lovely and I would be happy to go back there
This is a very nice hotel with exceptionally friendly staff - from the porter that carried my luggage to reception and the breakfast staff - all friendly, neatly dressed and professional. The room is very big and the bathroom had a bathtub and seperate shower. There is mildew growing on the walls but nothing a little bit of domestos cannot sort out. I needed some body lotion - reception had it sent to my room within 2 minutes - Charlotte Rhys - fantastic. I can highly recommend the hotel.
VVIMBAYI GWATAThe hotel was very convenient and the staff especially Eunice , was exceptional she made sure when we went for breakfast all was in order and in time
The room was great considering I would need it only at night as I was busy with the mall
I will definitely be back again !
