北河芝加哥精選飯店(The Chicago Hotel Collection River North)

A greatly designed hotel. Location is a little bit far from the downtown area, but really close to a metro station.

Tax has already been charged at the time of booking. After arriving at the scene, I was asked to sign and a form. Without a signature, there is no way to check in. The content on the list is a bunch of unreasonable taxes and fees, which are not indicated on the third-party booking website or their own website. Plus a resort fee of nearly $50 a day. Although this is written on the website, the prices above are exclusive of tax. They charge nearly 18% in taxes. Also there is absolutely no website offering four drinks per room per night. The bar was completely empty. After adding tax on trip.com, the amount displayed was USD 330, and I was charged nearly USD 500 in total. If you don't want to be charged a lot of unreasonable money, please don't come to this hotel.

What really turned off about this hotel are hidden fees. They advertised their at $60 per night but with resort fee and property fee it more than doubles the price. In my opinion they have a high deposit fee $125 for really nothing. My room was literally right next to the Brown line train which is very noisy. The had a very tiny desk in an awkward location which made it impossible to get any work done. The staff was kind of rude when questioned them on why they photo copied my id and credit together. If i would have know this first i would have chosen another plan.

We loved the unique set up and the room size for our family of 6. The kitchen and games area was also such a great benefit for us. Not having someone at the front desk in the early morning was a bit unsettling because of people asking to be let in the hotel that did not have a key.

This hotel tricks you with the low price and then they add on a guest benefit fee which gives you access to the ping pong table in the basement. When the train goes by it gets really loud almost as loud as when you flush the toilet. get ready to be woken up by every sneeze from any room. The concept of the place is neat, but it wasn't described very well. it's more of a hostile setup, but you have your own personal space. The rooms have lockers in them for some reason and no desk. there's only one night table and a institutional toilet. The rooms are Spartan. the hotel is loud. it tricks you with hidden fees and you can do way better for the price.

You over charged about 175 the property is so expensive for what you get. The 49 fee, the 150 deposit we didn’t even use those amenities only charge if we use the amenities we just went to sleep our bill was almost 400

I stayed during the air and water show this year. The lady at the reception desk was extremely rude and slow. There was 2 guys in front of me. It took me 1hr 15 mins to get checked in. She offered me a king instead a queen, but when i got to the room it was just a king bed and not the double sofa bed i needed having 4 people in the room. She did get us switched to another room. At 1130 pm, after we got the baby to bed and finally getting some rest, we hear a pounding at the door. Several times on my walk to the door. This woke up my 8 month old. Anyways, it was the night shift guy working the front desk. He wanted to check and see if there was anyone in the room. This was the absolute worse experience i have ever had at a hotel in chicago. I will not be staying here again.

No staff on property whatsoever. I was not able to even stay at this pre-pay hotel through *******. Don’t even try to stay here, the communication is absolutely horrible. They won’t even call or come down. They have to text you and then they don’t reply within a reasonable time and the location was not a safe area in any way, shape or form. This hotel chain doesn’t know how to run a hotel was never even able to speak with anybody and check in contacted another hotel and stay there. Looking forward to hopefully get reimbursed for my wasted time, money, and inability to even speak to a worker. Not recommended. It was memorable, just not in any way positive.
