麥克唐納德大熊飯店(Macdonald Bear Hotel)

Great location, in the heart of high street of Woodstock and 10 minutes walk to the gate of Blenheim Palace. The room was spacious and super clean. You got all you need and you can request fresh milk from Reception for coffee or tea. Breakfast was fantastic.

The experience was made extra special by the lovely petite check in clerk who went out of her way to get things done, like extra milk in the room, etc. Its a historic hotel with large original stairs, so folks be aware if you have large suitcases. But it is perfectly placed in the centre of Woodstock with easy access to Blenheim.

Awful. Booked a four poster suite, got something completely different, filthy and needed a full renovation. Had to wait 15 minutes for a receptionist to show up, and this is after walking into the restaurant to try and get someone’s attention in there. This is 2 star hotel at best. The cooked breakfast was good, but I had to remind them to bring the toast, which by the time it arrived I had finished and was ready to leave. The place is in general a shambles, and for this I blame the management.

Staff are extremely poorly trained and inefficient. There are nowhere near enough staff on site to service thdd we needs of the customers. Internet connectivity is hit and miss so can forget about using it as a base for business purposes. Check-in procees takes long, seems to take at least 10 minutes for each new customer, in I could give a lower rating like zero, I would.t

Receptionist was not helpful, the room was not ready for 3pm, she then goes onto to say 3 ish the email says 3pm. I don’t think you should be charged £10 for parking, not when we paid so much for the stay. The hotel is not worth what you charge.

Unfortunately luxury hotel in the Cotswolds it was not, several stays now in MacDonalds hotels and they are all starting to be very worn out and grumby. For the price paid would expect a lot more. The Windsor property they have is lovely but this one is in need of a lot of TLC. Carpets threadbear, mould ceilings, chipped dirty paint, grubby grouting, missing bathroom parts and overall cleanliness lacking

It’s a great location and a very pretty building. We had a suite and the main rooms were lovely but the bathroom was very poor. The rooms were freezing cold on a mild ish November and the heating system was very very slow to kick in. The food was very mediocre and overprices and the half board allowance in now way covered 3 courses. Worst of all was that corridors were left full of used linen and service was more 2-3 star than 4 star

Really lovely Saturday night stay at the Bear. We ate at Brotherton’s Brasserie in the evening (close to the hotel) - would highly recommend. Breakfast was good at the hotel but very very very slow - although we weren’t in a hurry on the Sunday morning to be fair. They do charge for parking which seems a bit odd when the room rate is around the £180 mark and they could do with an EV charger. We were also charged an additional £30 for our dogs which I have mixed feelings about. Generally, and in balance, we were v pleased with the Bear overall - lovely staff and fellow guests. Woodstock is a fab place.
