城堡飯店(The Castle Inn)

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in a poster bed room and I can say we absolutely enjoyed everything about our stay. Check in at the bar, staff was helpful and let us know where we could park (through Manor House gate in parking lot) with a very short and direct walk back to the Castle Inn. There is no elevator but the staff offers to help you with your bags. The room was well equipped and the bathroom was large for this being accommodations over a pub and dating back to the 12th century. The room was modern, towel warmer, water and glasses on the bedside tables, bath towels equal to US bath sheets, tub/shower combo, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, hand soap), radiant heat and well insulated curtains to keep the room warm and cozy during freezing temperatures. This is a historic building so the floors creak, stairs are narrow (as in not too deep) and when in bed the head felt lower than our feet but it was not the bed or mattress (they were both well made, sturdy and mattress and bedding comfortable. It was really the floor being lower on that side of the bed. We slept well and comfortably. the pillows were feather and very nice. The room had a desk, tea service with shortbread cookies (re-stocked each day), TV, reading lights at the bed, small table and chair, closet with iron board, iron and hair dryer. The entire staff was helpful, friendly and accommodating, the food was excellent, the fireplace was a welcome warm spot upon our arrival. The pub is more gastro pub, excellent menu and food! The breakfast was amazing, highly recommend booking bed and breakfast. This is a small town so you will not have many options (either Castle Inn or Manor House) but the breakfast was FANTASTIC. The croissants have ruined croissants for me anywhere else. We had one each morning and could not stop raving about how great they were. The full English Breakfast is traditional with black pudding, beans and tomatoes. You will not want for more, it is a plentiful serving. I did skip the black pudding as it's not to my liking but I could not even finish as the serving was more than enough. Cooked to order and the best breakfast we had during our 10 day visit to the UK. Coffee was strong, not bitter (again excellent), the tea was quality and I do not remember the local bakery they use but you will have the best croissants and sourdough bread here. My husband had french toast one morning and raved about how good it was. This was just the hot breakfast, they put out quite a bit of cold as well (cereal, oats with cinnamon, fruit, yogurt, juices). We are fortunate to have experienced this fantastic inn and the lovely staff they have.

The Castle inn has an amazing and friendly staff ready to help you with your every need! The front desk check in is at the bar which we found confusing at first but the hostess assured us it happens all the time! Went down for some shareable stuff for dinner and had some dessert as well, everything we got was great! Highly recommend the chipolatas!

We had a meal booked here as part of a weekend break package at the Manor Hotel. The staff were lovely the pub warm and cosy on such a cold winter evening and the food we had was delicious. The home made crumpet with flaked trout and fennel was a triumph Definitely recommend

Place looked wonderfully so went in to eat ,but nothing at all made me think wow very disappointed would not ever eat there again and quite expensive for what you get look before you order then make you mind up at as good as some places out there today

Delicious food, beautiful pub and amazing service all set in the prettiest village. Nearly everything on the menu was gluten free or a gluten free option available. It was hands down the best gluten free meal I’ve had.

This was for my Lady’s birthday lunch and what a lovely lunch it was These people certainly know how to run a a hotel. The food was beyond expectations and the staff were lovely as well. We never stayed and perhaps we should have, maybe next time and I’m sure there will be a next time.Wine chilled to perfection. A well stocked bar. I would like to get snowed in here. I throughly recommend this establishment and all who work there. Never have I been tempted to go meat free but after tasting a spicy aubergine 🍆 with all the trimmings I might well do. My lady had a fish dish which she said was delicious 😋. Champagne 🥂 was just the ticket on an auspicious occasion. My thanks to all especially those in the kitchen.

We had to laugh when we walked into our room… the bed was as high as my waist, we literally had to climb into it! Extremely comfortable though, with crisp linen and pillows. We had a lovely view through this gorgeous little village from our room and it was very quiet at night. The hot water’s a tad unpredictable, but all part of the charm. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast the following morning, which included delicious local sausages! A very comfortable stay in a gorgeous location.

Castle Combe is very pretty but heaving with tourists even in May and while we enjoyed the visit the Inn was a little disappointing . Food was ok, typical gastro pub, but the room was tiny, hot and noisy. The tv noise from the room downstairs was not good, and the hotel boiler extractor fan was outside our bedroom window. There is a pretty small courtyard which we went to sit in but we were refused a drink there, even if we took it there ourselves from the bar, the alternative only was to sit inside the restaurant in the dark or stand outside on the pavement as there were no seats available and none available specially for hotel guests. So we didn’t bother. It was a warm sunny day so no idea why the private courtyard was off limits, room rates were already high season prices. Staff were lovely and trying their best but obviously under staffed. Breakfast trays were left outside the room until mid afternoon and corridors smelt of food. Nice to visit Castle Coombe but would not recommend staying in the Inn itself. Of course we expected prices to be high in the Cotswolds but everything, including taxis were very expensive.

The Castle Inn is a truly wonderful place for adults to visit. The place is very unique and comfortable to stay in and the staff are truly superb in in their approach to customers, they are so warm, welcoming and friendly. You feel like one of the family.
