Unassuming because of the location within a shopping center, but this is an excellent accommodation for travelers. The value and service are exceptional. And, the location is in a walkable neighborhood just blocks from the water. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a room with a view but at the very least you can hear the peaceful ocean waves.

This is a long review because the hotel, actually the people, was instrumental in setting up a life experience in Africa for our family of 9. The entire experience was as good as it gets, but I hope to offer 3 examples of why this experience was unique in my life. My booking was serendipitous, but Shameemah Maged contacted me to clarify my needs and went out of her way to help all the various issues we faced. Furthermore, she took pity on the other two families that had made their own arrangements and helped them get airport rides as well as advice for their own problems. She made several changes in the hotel to accommodate all 9 of us, each with different “urgent” needs, and was instrumental in getting us off on our trip of a lifetime. I am in my mid-80s and have done a lot of traveling in my life and met lots of extremely helpful hotel staff, and I can honestly say that Shameemah is in a class of her own. She is unique and a real treasure. Our family raved about her over the entire 2-3-week adventure and I anticipate that she will live in the memories of 9 people for a very long time. The next unique person was a server at breakfast who I think saved a trip for another family. On 3 January I came alone to get breakfast and watched 3 sub-teenage kids come in and sit at a large table. The wore the familiar adolescent faces reflecting extreme displeasure and sat there silently looking very unhappy and angry, obviously wishing they were home with their friends. Eventually their parents arrived, also looking miserable, perhaps reflecting their kids. Soon their waitress arrived and was familiar with the family, greeted them, and asked how yesterday had played out. It was sort of the polite greeting that is often ignored or lied about. But not with that lady! She cared, and instead of taking orders, spent at least 10-15 minutes asking them detailed questions about their activities and joked about things and carefully involved each of the unhappy people and before long they were all laughing and happy! I have been around a lot of sour kids ,but have never seen a recovery like that – ever! She took their orders and the table continued to be happy, teasing each other and being excited about the days plans she had discussed with them. After they ate, they went off with a spring I their steps, broad smiles and obvious enthusiasm. I wish I had asked her name, because in my mind that server absolutely saved another family’s lifetime experience. I have never seen anything like the magic she delivered. The third example of the excellence of the hotel will be forever imbedded in my mind, it should have been in a movie. As with everything else in the hotel, it starts off with Shameemah. We had to kill several hours between checking out of Newkings and into the nearby hotel our tour had arranged. Excellent stay, lovely hotel, room was spacious and well equipped. Good choice of food in restaurant, excellent quality food. Can recommend a stay in this hotel. Conveniently situated close to sea front. Be cautious with regards to walking with bags and belongings along the road, try to keep items concealed as we very nearly became victims of being mugged, but thanks to a local shop keeper she warned us of two men eyeing up my wife's bag. But it can and does happen anywhere, so don't let this put you off.

The hotel is neat and clean but does not cater for business travellers. After pre-booking breakfast (after reading on the website that breakfast is served from 07h00), when I arrived I was told that breakfast is served from 07h30, I could not get breakfast earlier and I would not be refunded the fee for breakfast that I had prepaid. So good for tourists, but a terrible option for the business traveller who has an early appointment.

New Kings is a comfortable, perfectly located hotel in Sea Point, with convinient shopping on the ground floor, a spa and wellness on the first floor and just a stone throw awy from the long and beautiful promrnade. The in house restuarant Zest is excellent, they have a modern and very delicious menu with equally delictable cocktails. The staff is very friendly from the front desk to service and at the restuarant too.

I love your establishment and the restaurant Zest. I feel safe, cared for and know that my every need will be taken care of. I love how conveniently close everything is and how easy it is for me to zip out to meetings with clients, knowing that I have convenient public transport at the click of a button.

We stayed at the Newkings Boutique on a recent trip. When we entered our room the view actually took our breath away! The staff at the front were amazing! The onsite restaurant is really good but there are also several amazing food options within walking distance. This hotel is also very close to a hop on hop off bus stop if you are wanting to explore the city.

I had a wonderful 2-week stay at Newkings hotel. It is in a great location close to a lot of shops and restaurants as well as the Sea Point promenade. The hotel rooms are big, modern, clean and well-equipped. The view of Lion's Head from the balcony is outstanding. The staff are also very friendly and helpful and I will definitely be staying here again!
