While reviewing the hotels/resorts in Bharatpur for our proposed trip in mid -February, I had asked our travel agent IHPL, Delhi to book Lakshmi Vilas Palace based on its excellent reviews in Trip Advisor. Although the booking was confirmed but I had to change the dates as my daughter living in USA had to postpone her programme and when I re-checked, I was informed by IHPL that for the new dates in 1st week of March, accommodation was not available in Lakshmi Vilas and as an alternative, I had to accept the booking at Pride Kadamb Kunj. So after completing our 2-day stay in Mathura/Vrindavan we proceeded to Bharatpur, which is about 50km away from Mathura. We reached there by 12 noon. This resort is situated on Fatehpur Sikri Road but to reach the Reception we had to climb many steps. The overall layout and structure of the Resort appeared to be good with its well furnished lobby and a beautiful garden all around. We were welcome with soft drinks. However, we had to walk up and down and zig-zag to reach the rooms allotted to us. My overall impression of the room was not good as its furniture, furnishings and bathroom gave it a mediveal look. Our rooms on upper floor were not much spacious and opened towards a wide corridor facing wide fields behind the boundary wall of the resort. Seeing that we we were bit cocerned about the safety aspects. A small Swimming pool having an attractive layout was also seen on the other side. Of course all necessary amenities, such as phone, electric kettle, TV etc besides a swimming pool were provided but still I will give this resort a rating between budget and 3-star. The breakfast was ok but not with choices as it was not in buffet style. Of course, they provided us fruit, milk, juice etc and also prepared paranthas on demand. for dinner, we found from menu that the food items were expensive, so we preferred to take food in a nearby restaurant across the road. The hotel staff was quite courteous and guided us for our visit to Bird Sanctuary next morning as the birds are not expected to be available in the afternoon. Since we had nothing to do for that afternoon we were prompted to visit Fatehpur Sikri as it is just 20km away. So I contacted our travel agent IHPL for this extra trip and they promptly agreed, a nice gesture on the part of IHPL, whom I have been contacting for several years. So we went to Fatehpur Sikri and returned by about 5PM. Some photographs of the resort are attached herewith.
