We had the best stay at Peak Edge. We stayed in the Hardwick suite which was perfect, huge comfy bed, comfy sofa and chairs, balcony window overlooking the lake. Heavily pregnant, I was looking forward to using the big bath which didn’t disappoint. Breakfast was excellent with a buffet and hot menu. We also dined at The Red Lion and the food and service were excellent. We were also offered the option of the food delivered as room service. Staff were very helpful. Close to Chatsworth house which was a nice place to visit before checking in. Would 100% recommend.

My husband and I have just returned from a lovely short break and stay at Peak Edge. The staff at the hotel, were all professional, super friendly and efficient. The hotel, is modern, tastefully decorated and super clean. Perfectly well placed for visiting the local area. Our ground floor room was really very pleasant, overlooking the pond and highland cattle (and two calves!) in the field behind. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the shower very good. Breakfast had everything you could possibly want to "Break your fast" and the hot options, were varied and beautifully prepared and presented. I am afraid I have had to knock off 1 mark, for a couple of *******, which probably wouldn't bother many people. We ate in the restaurant twice in 3 nights - on our first night my husband had a rib eye steak and "triple cooked" chips. Although the steak was cooked to his preference, he felt the steak probably wasn't a rib eye, it didn't have the veining you would normally expect from this cut and looked more like a fillet, no veining or deeper beef flavour, the chips looked like they were fresh out a freezer bag and didn't have the golden crispy outer edge and fluffy inside that one would expect from a chip of this description. I had Halibut, which was beautifully cooked, but the "fondant potatoes" were just little golf balls of potato tossed in a bit of butter and all the veg were insufficiently seasoned. Both meals were delivered on cold plates. For £180 - including a good bottle of wine - it was a little disappointing. On our last night we ate in the restaurant again, the meal was much better, my husband deliberately didn't have chips this time, but we did notice another table had them and they looked much more like "triple cooked!!" Again both meals were better on the seasoning but delivered on cold plates. We did wonder if perhaps on the Thursday night the head chef was on day off. The decor in the hotel, although tasteful, is very generic - there is the same picture in the bar as in our bedroom and it feels a little uninspired and "job lot of highland cattle prints?" There are no USB sockets in the plug sockets in the rooms and we hadn't taken our plugs with us. We have travelled all over the world and perhaps wrongly, expected this in our room. Even Travel Lodge in the UK have these, although by no means am I comparing Peak Edge to one of these hotels! It is just a little thing that some travelers are not expecting to have to worry about anymore. Finally, I overheard an elderly lady in the restaurant in the morning arranging to meet a friend in the car park and then to drive her somewhere. They left just before we did and as she pulled out of the car park in front of us, there was furious beeping of horns, as a car screeched to a halt on the road. As we left we realised that when turning right onto the main road, the A frame that you have outside is in a place that makes it tricky to see what is coming from the

Had a lovely weekend stay, great night at Christmas party night, great breakfast, impressed on how soon paths were cleared after the snow fall

This was a return to Peak Edge 7 years after getting married there which meant the hotel had a lot to live up to but thanks to Joshua and all of the staff working in the hotel, the bar and the restaurant I had a wonderful stay. Nothing was too much trouble, the room, the staff and the food were all fantastic. Thank you so much for all the kind touches, the flowers, the messages, general attentiveness and to the understanding staff. I will definitely return again and would recommend this hotel to everyone (as long as there is still room for me to stay) Thank you for everything.

Service was excellent. Bedroom a very good size and well soundproofed. Bathroom reasonably well equipped although lacking in eco friendly touches. I’m not fond of fixed head showers but I can understand that in a wet room they are there for reasons of practicality and safety. Peak Edge is an extremely decent hotel but not for those who want more atmosphere and a less corporate feel. Thank you to staff on reception who were always efficient and welcoming.

This hotel was wonderful, our fourth visit. Food was excellent but has become quite expensive. We will return.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous! Very peaceful beautiful surroundings and staff are very polite. The red lion food is amazing. A bit pricey but we’ll worth it. Highly recommended if your want a nice relaxing stay.

Had an absolutely delightful stay. We wanted to visit Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall and, since we weren't prepared to drive in the UK, we needed a hotel within taxi proximity to both. We discovered the Peak Edge through online research, and it proved perfect to our needs. It was quiet and peaceful amidst the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, the room was great, the attached Red Lion Restaurant had excellent breakfasts (including the unexpected treat of delicious fresh-made pancakes, complete with real maple syrup) and quality dinners, and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Indeed, they made all our taxi reservations, not just for our sightseeing excursions but also from and to the Chesterfield train station and for a dinner out in nearby Matlock. But perhaps the best example of their willingness to go the extra mile to accommodate us was when we told them we had some aroma allergy issues they agreed to shut off their scent diffuser in the lobby and public areas for the entire duration of our stay. We so enjoyed our stay at the Peak Edge and would so love to go back, that we are already exploring possible sights we might have missed (Hardwick Hall?) that would justify a return visit.
