Visited this hotel a few times in last few years. Standards just appear to be slipping. The room we had was tired and bathroom shower area poorly repaired from a previous maintenance issue. I was there on my own with my 2 children age 4- and 11 and was refused access to pool as they have a ratio of 1:1 adult to child for under 5s and 8-15s 1:3 ratio. The swimming pool is one of the main reasons for booking this hotel. According to the receptionist it’s well posted on the website. When you actually think about this it’s crazy, no council swimming pool or any other hotel resort has this ridiculous rule. If it’s an insurance reason that just needs resolved. The pool also operates a session time table. The longest session is 90mins so if you don’t turn up at start of a session your going to be limited on time The soft play cafe was closed the whole time we were there. The playroom was also closed and apparently only open during major school holidays. We went for breakfast each morning around 9am and food on hot plate spreads over cooked. Presentation also poor. Room service turned up at 4:30pm, so after being out most the day we returned and our room hadn’t yet been serviced then we had to go back out to let them in. Overall the fabric of the place is in disrepair and needs an overhaul. I fear the worst for his hotel in the next 5-10 years if it doesn’t invest heavily in the facilities and rooms. I think senior management need to get boots on the ground and see what’s actually going on here. This place has potential to be a top 10 family resort in UK. But it will never be that by offering part time facilities. The place is struggling and cutting services back won’t fix it.
