If you are looking for your standard "big box" hotel - the kind of place where you could be anywhere in the world - than Mona is not for you. If you are looking for a unique experience that is unusual and high-end, then by all means, book a stay at Mona. The website is very clear that the rooms are open concept - meaning no walls between the bathing area and sleeping area. That is part of the charm - so reviewers who seem surprised by this may not have closely read the hotel description. I stayed in two different rooms (as I flew in and out of Athens) and one had the toilet in a small room with a door - the other did not. So if you would like to have the toilet in a closed area, please ask. The staff are accommodating and helpful. One employee even graciously packed up a coffee and yogurt for me to have in the taxi on the way to the airport for an early morning flight. The ipad may take some getting used to, but the staff are very quick to respond. I loved that there was no TV or phone in the room - the radio/music system was a fantastic touch for ambiance. Restaurant recommendations were spot on and the team were very helpful in securing reservations for me. The bed is extremely comfortable (low platform bed - just a warning for anyone who may have difficulty with low sleeping platforms) and the linens and amenities are luxurious.

Mona is exactly as advertised. Modern, funky, cool and not your average hotel. There is no bellhop to help with bags. There are no phones to call reception, but instead an ipad in your room to message. There are no walls in the rooms, including on the toilet. There is a very cool rooftop with a "trust" system for the bar. There is a good responsive concierge who makes solid reservations and recommendations. The location is right in the center of town and near all of the things - Plaka, Parthenon, etc. All of that said, I wouldn't stay there again. It's not the most comfortable hotel, I like a phone in the room and a door on my toilet.

Wonderful design forward hotel in centre of Athens! Considered interior and exterior spaces and exceptional breakfast served wherever you wish. Bit rough around the edges which while purposeful is not aligned with typical luxury experience. Only drawback is proximity to bar which means it can get loud at night.

Beautiful hotel! Amazing customer service and delicious breakfast in a fantastic and convenient location (easy walk to all the main sites and a direct train from the airport). Only criticism is that the walls are thin and we could hear everything from the room next door, as well the toilet is separated from the room by a curtain only, not everyone will be comfortable with this. Overall had an incredible stay in a stunning and carefully designed hotel, would recommend and will stay again!

Very cool hotel in a vibrant area of town. It took us a bit to find the entrance but once we saw the room we were very excited. The design is very cool, the bed and linens were amazing and went for a walk around and had a great time people watching and many restaurant options around. A total hidden gem.
