I love Haywood Park Hotel. Period. I've stayed at several of the other downtown hotels, but there's something special to be said about the smaller hotel hovering beneath the trees right smack in the center in town. One, you feel apart of the town and two, there is a warmer atmosphere being located right along the sidewalk with the chocolatier, the locally-owned bookshop, the cafes, and park. How lovely to arrive in the lobby and be met with a glass of champagne and set off the last morning with a breakfast snack, ... well, it has that sense of 'old friends.' This was my third stay, and I've stayed at 3 others within throwing distance, and I won't look back. It wasn't that they weren't nice, indeed they were, but who else has a Model T and a grand piano in their lobby? And a peephole into the chocolatier's kitchen!
O! The room? Clean to a 't' and enough room that we could have brought our rowdy border collies ... but, it was quiet time for us when it came time to pull the drapes and call it a night. We pleasantly woke to a busker playing the steel pans. Gotta love that Asheville!
