阿姆斯特丹萊茲廣場飯店(Hotel d'Amsterdam Leidsesquare)

We unfortunately did not have a nice stay. Having read the previous reviews were expecting a dated decor - which did not bother us as the reviews were all quite positive aside from this. On arrival the lady at reception was very friendly and got us checked in quickly - she advised us that they had a few Wi-Fi networks that we could access for free. On getting to our room, we were a bit shocked at how small it was - we had a standard double room. The bed was slightly smaller than a standard double. The main light was hanging off the ceiling, a good 1-2 inch gap between the fixture and the ceiling so not particularly safe. There was a decent size fridge, and this had a small freezer in it and unfortunately the door to the freezer was missing and so everything we placed in the fridge would freeze. We tried connecting to the Wi-Fi networks but neither would work. There was a new LG aircon unit that we could not get to work, it kept flashing ‘CH 24’ after having a look online at the model we realised that the code appearing on the air con unit was an error code. I went to use the phone in the room to call reception and advise them of the various issues, but the phone wasn't even plugged in - there was not plug attached and no telephone point. It was an entirely pointless feature. We also noticed that when you flushed the toilet the water would continue running into the toilet, after two more flushes it stopped. We thought no more of it and put it down as a one-off. The following day it did not stop after a couple of flushes and we spoke to reception to advise them of this and that the air-con and Wi-Fi were both failing to work. The receptionist took a note of the error code from the air-con that we gave her and advised that the toilet always did this and always took 2 or 3 flushes to stop the water running. I was not particularly impressed with this response as I should not be expected to spend my time continuously flushing a toilet, they should not have put us in the room knowing this was an issue, at the very least they should have warned us of this. She said that she would get someone to look at the air-con and the toilet. As expected, the following day the issue continued, but this time it would not stop. The toilet continuously ran with water. Two or three minutes after flushing the toilet, water would start running until you flushed it and then it happened again, we continued like this for an hour and it would not stop, we spoke to them again and the receptionist we spoke to this time (different to the one we had spoken to before) said that she would get someone to look at it. I advised her that this had been going on for three days and that this was our final day, someone should have looked at it already and they obviously hadn’t, along with the air con and Wi-Fi. Luckily they had a room spare and put us in there for the final night, the room was nice than the previous one but we were still not particularly happy with how this had been

Lovely small hotel in a great location well away from the wordt touristctraps. Friendly staff, room on the small side. Excellent breakfast served in the cafe opposite, and plenty of superb restaurants within walking distance. Close to the besutiful Wondelpark.

Great location. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Upon arrival we were given a map of the city and some recommendations. Lift is very handy with a suitcase. Air con was very welcome in the heatwave!

Vi blev meget positivt overraskede over både standarden og servicen. Ankom sent, dvs efter lukketid, men havde skrevet med hotellet forud, så vi blev mødt med stort smil og venlighed. Området ligger roligt til i et hotel/boligområde, og hotellet har kun 16 rum, så der var ingen støj fra hverken gæster eller udefra. Værelset fremstod meget rent, nyrenoveret, dejligt stort og inkl lille køleskab og aircon. Der var en lille balkong og udsigt til stor baggård. Morgenmad skulke aftales aftenen inden og blev serveret separat på hvert bord i morgenmadsrummet i stuen, sikkert som følge af pandemien. Personalet er meget venlige og servicemindede. Gangafstand til det meste, ca 30 min at gå til centralstationen. Alt i alt meget god oplevelse, og vi kommer gerne igen.

Great location at walking distance from most sights, as well as the direct bus 397 to/from Leidseplein/Shiphol, super serviceminded and friendly staff, clean and large room with nice beds. Fresh rolls and croissants++ for breakfast, and each morning a huge smile from the receptionist. They only have 16 rooms, and we could hear the neighbouring guests laughing at some point, but otherwise very quiet. Classical, steep and narrow staircase, and they have an (European sized) elevator. Remember to email your expected arrival time, and keep them updated in case of delays, as reception closes at 10 pm. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Had originally booked for 2020 April, then covid happened, I had booked it through a booking agent who said they would not give me credit. I contacted hotel d'amsterdam directly and they gave me same credit till this April. Very efficient replies to email. We eventually stayed this april. It is such a quaint small hotel, central to everything in Amsterdam. Its in one of those wonderful Amsterdam narrow houses. We loved it. Rooms clean, great character. All I can do is sing its praises and would definitely stay there again.

Good location, small rooms, good for a 1-2 night stay, friendly and very helpful staff. Bad smell after we turned the AC on.

Vacances de 4 jours a deux. Hôtel bien placé et ville à taille presque humaine. Quartier calme et chambre sur cour. Aucun problème d'insécurité. Parfait !
