The perfect solution for our stop in Innsbruck. Very large and quiet room, great breakfast. Great location, you can easily park your car in the hotel yard and reach the city center by streetcar whose stop is just a few meters from the hotel.

Located on the outskirts of Innsbruck the hostel is relatively easy to get to. From the central station you just walk around the corner and catch the number 3 tram (heading for Amras). After a few stops you get off at `Pilippine-welser strabe’ and then walk for about ten minutes. Incidentally, if your flight is a morning one, don’t turn up at the hostel in the hope of an early check-in as there is no receptionist until 14.00. So unless you want to sit outside and twiddle your thumbs you would be better off placing your bags in one of the rail station lockers and having a look around the city. Our room was small and basic (no television etc.) and our allocated bathroom was across the corridor. But it was all high spec and, in keeping with the rest of the hostel, spotlessly clean. The receptionists were polite, knowledgeable and helpful (don’t forget to ask for your welcome card which gives you free travel on the trams and buses within the city). Breakfast was more than sufficient to keep us going for most of the day, although some might feel that the choice on offer a bit limited. Should we ever return to Innsbruck we’d be happy to stay at the Marmota again.

The Alphotel Innsbruck is probably the worst hotel we've ever stayed at! But we had no choice since we were on a tour package and this was the hotel that Gate1 chose for our itinerary. We weren't the only tour members who did not have a good stay at this hotel. Our tour group had a long day and we were scheduled to arrive late so we were all pretty tired when we arrived. Unfortunately the room we were assigned to didn't even look or feel exceptionally clean and I'm surprised I didn't take photos of the room! Comparing posted photos of the rooms on TA our room looked much older and didn't even have a real chair, but only one of those small round ottomans. And that ottoman was dirty and stained, so we didn't want to sit on that! The bedspread had that ”ick” factor, so we removed it but at least the sheets were clean. Carpet looked grungy so we made sure to wear our slippers and not walk barefoot on it. Regret not taking pictures of the room now. We've stayed at hotels with older or ”tired” decor but they were at least neat and clean, but not at this hotel! Now the ”fun” part was our bathroom door. I was getting ready to take a shower and went into the bathroom, but wanted to use my own soap and toiletries, so I went out of the bathroom and my husband (who was standing in front of the bathroom, looking at the closet or something right across from the bathroom) shut the opaque glass bathroom door. I went back to the bathroom and tried to open the door and it was locked! It was one of those simple privacy type locks where there's usually a pinhole that you can usually press and it'll pop open. Unfortunately, there was no pinhole but a screw so I tried twisting the screw but the door remained locked. Husband tried but it kept turning and he didn't have any tools so he called the front desk and they sent the maintenance guy up. The maintenance guy looked at the door and tried twisting the screw with the same results and said he needed to go get his tools. He returned with his small toolbox and tried several screwdrivers, with no luck. Then he tried using a small drill to remove the screw and still couldn't get the door unlocked. Meanwhile, we were sitting on the bed and watching tv since there was nothing else we could do. I texted our friends who were also traveling in the tour group and assigned to the room right next door to let them know what was happening. And to apologize to them for the loud racket, as the maintenance guy went and got his large power drill and was basically removing the entire door knob and panel. So the guy had to destroy the whole door knob panel because the door lock screw or nut inside the panel was probably stripped and couldn't unlock or open the door; so if I was on the other side of the door I would have been stuck in the bathroom! Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut, man fährt von der Autobahn ab und muss nicht durch die ganze Stadt fahren. Bis zum Zentrum benötigt man zu Fuß in etwas 30 min. Öffis sind vor dem Hotel vorhanden. Parken ist am Wochenende gratis (Sa & So) Das Hotel an sich ist für den Preis ganz okay. Beim duschen rinnt jedoch das ganze Wasser in das Bad und auch das Waschbecken war eine Fehlkonstruktion. Die Einrichtung ist aber unserer Meinung nach geschmackvoll gewählt. Leider sind auch die Wände sehr dünn und man hört wirklich alles von den Zimmernachbarn durch. Das größte Manko war die Unfreundlichkeit der Rezeptionistin, diese war weder beim Check in noch bei der Abreise freundlich. Man hat sich überhaupt nicht willkommen gefühlt - schade ... ansonsten hätte es bestimmt eine bessere Bewertung gegeben.

Was hoping for so much better. We were on a Trafalgar Tour and stayed at this hotel on December 13, 2023. We were told it would be a 5 star hotel. First thing that happened was they lost our (and many others in our group) luggage. I asked at the front desk and they said ”We have never had problems getting luggage to the proper rooms. It's your tour operator's problem, there's nothing we can do further. After 2 hours our luggage still hadn't shown up. Went to reception, and another Trafalgar guest was there, who's luggage was also lost. Finally they had someone from reception go to the tour's rooms. Our luggage was found, however, the other guest's luggage was still missing. Our tour director went room to room (not just our tour's rooms, but EVERY room starting on the first floor.) and finally found their luggage in the 37th room she checked. It was an empty room with nobody staying there. Then, I found there was no remote for the TV or extra pillows. Requested them at front desk. They were delivered to my room, but the pillows were terribly mismatched. Carpet was stained and somewhat dirty. At our evening meal, they wanted to charge my wife extra for a refill on her soda/pop. Overall, this was the low-lite hotel in our tour. Not worth the money they charged our tour. Their customer/front desk service was bad, at best. Most Reception persons had a bad ”attitude”. Would never stay here again.

We stayed for one night whilst travelling from Germany to our ski resort in Austria, with 2 children. The hotel was very easy to find, nice and modern and the rooms were very good value (we got 2 connecting rooms ). It is perfect for a quick stop overnight. Breakfast was simple but there was a good choice and it was a nice way to start the day for our onward journey the following morning. There are vending machines but otherwise nowhere for evening food/snacks. We wanted something quick and easy and did not want a full sit down meal in a restaurant in town so it would have been good to have a bit of something on offer, like pizza, in the evening. But it was a quick drive into town and we soon found something. There is a supermarket next door (it was closed when we were there, as we arrived in the evening)) and a nearby petrol station. There was ample parking in the downstairs garage for 8.50 euro a night, and plenty of electric chargers available for electric cars. Would definitely stay there again if needing an overnight stay en route.
