We have been here the first weekend in March for the past 5yrs. We did another hotel in Nov that was allegedly a 4*. Don’t come close to this hotel and its staff!! It’s spoilt us! The company and hotel chain Nau have been bought out which explained why the hotel was available late to book this year! Hotel was in its first opening weekend and there were lots of “Suits” about! But super friendly. Hotel has been refurbed in reception and main bar area. Restaurant also has had an update. Looks nice and open plan but maybe the removed tv needs a place back as some sport events are still worth watching! Some lovely smell is pumped through the corridors too! Kept asking what it was! No entertainment our weekend which usually is on but understandable if it was launch weekend. It would be back on the following weekend. The hotel was as usual only semi open and they were still refurbing the 2nd pool. No disturbance at all by this! We were down that end of the hotel on the ground floor but for some reason were soon upgraded to the left hand side of the hotel and on a sea view floor which was nice overlooking the pool that was open. Food again was excellent as normal. Staff super attentive and friendly. Place is spotless again as far as we’re concerned. Staff always cleaning. Breakfast on Friday fell on International Women’s Day so we were gifted a flower, a verse and a cocktail especially for that day. That was sweet! We were given access to the Atlantico suites spa as ours was in refurb. You can pay extra €10 each for access to the full spa with sauna and steam room and jacuzzi which we did on the second day due to unseasonal weather. There is a bus that goes into Albufeira I believe but we take a car rental. We had had some issues with hot water in our room and Pedro the manager was super apologetic and left us a cheese platter and bottle of red in our room. Things happen and as we’ve always had little issues here we had no complaint and in fact had made none! All inclusive food was hot, tasty and plentiful inc fizz in the morning! The all inc drinks are the basic which is fine but suggestion was given to add dark rum. I think any own branded booze could be inc or any “cheap” booze without being too dear for the hotel to foot so a cinzano could be added too. They have stopped the pay €15 per day for full booze choice. Nice to see some familiar staff there again!l I hope with the new take over it’s not changed too much or to the detriment of our usual experience. The usual clientele of golfers were there who were well behaved to be fair. We’ve never seen any issues or heard them. It’s very quiet in the hotel bedroom areas. I hope this target area isn’t stopped as it makes a weekend entertaining g to meet different people. Looking forward to next March! Room 220 - 3 mad Mums on tour!! 7-10 March 24.

This was our first trip abroad without parents. We decided to give Lastminute.com a try. We booked 5 nights at Hotel Da Gale, Largo Dos Luisadas, Albufeira, with return flights from Gatwick to Faro with WizzAir booked as part of the holiday package that was being offered by Lastminute - all paid up front. My dad had noticed that we would be arriving at the hotel after the official check-in time and so he contacted the hotel directly, both by phone and via email, to request a late check-in. In fact, he ended up sending 3 separate emails informing the hotel that we would be arriving late after the flight was delayed by several hours, and he phoned the hotel twice while we were flying out. To our great surprise and dismay, on arriving at the hotel we were informed that no rooms were available, and that we had to walk to alternative accommodation in a block of tourist apartments, where the room that we were given was dirty and infested with ants, and all this happened at 2am. This was not a good first experience abroad for the two of us! My dad spent the next 12 hours trying to talk with someone who could help. After wasting a lot of time on unhelpful online chats, and several international calls to the hotel, he eventually managed to get a customer service agent from Lastminute.com to phone him - after 3 separate calls with that agent, they ended up offering him the choice of either a £50 Lastminute voucher OR £30 refunded to his credit card - it was both rude and poor business practice that the two offers of compensation were not only of very little value, but also that they weren't for the same amount! Begrudgingly, he accepted the £30 refund because, after this experience it is very unlikely that we will book with Lastminute again. I was hoping that the hotel might offer some compensation directly to us, but we still haven't heard anything back from them, and I understand that as alternative accommodation was given, that they feel that they have fulfilled their legal obligation to us. Where is the customer service in that attitude?!

After a 6am flight we arrived at Hotel 11.30 am to be informed room not available until 4pm (not a good start) but did partly understand rooms have to be cleaned, at previous hotels they usual check but receptionist not helpful. Room very clean with small balcony, with sliding door which wouldn’t lock. There was a school to the left with screaming infants, 2 derelict houses & unkept yards, thankfully above that a good sea view. 2 chairs on balcony with a very small table with all the varnish peeling off!! In the room there was 2 single beds, with mostly bamboo style furnishings & mirror BUT there was a pink/orange looking bed settee, dark wood coffee table, a dining chair with bright green seat another bright green bucket chair. One wall was painted bright yellow, 2 horrid small old fashioned pictures. The curtains appeared to be new BUT were pale blue. It was a miss match of colours not what a 4 star should be and lastly only plastic coat hangers of all shapes & sizes that previous guests had left!! The pool area was good as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast lovely, staff in dining room very helpful. But would not return room NOT 4star.

Booked a week end of March to the Albufeira jardim but had to move after 3 days as it was so bad so went on booking. Com and found mar a vista hotel only around the corner from other hotel so went to speak to them and they couldn’t do enough for us they weren’t even open until the next day after being shut for over 2 years due to covid but we got a room for remaining time of our holiday they let us booked in early the pool area was till getting sorted but they made sure we had a couple of clean sun beds so we can make the most of the sunshine and they even let us check out later as our transfer was a late pick up it’s very basic but rooms were cleaned everyday clean towels and a good base as only 5mins to town they saved our holiday as the Albufeira jardim was simply dreadful and staff couldn’t do enough for us thank you
