Didn't even stay there but the experience itself is weird. You Phone the hotel directly it's just an answering machine all the time. Then when you visit to talk with someone all the doors are locked and the place is empty at 10am in the morning. No access to a hotel this is weird. I've worked in hotels myself and never has any of the hotels I've worked at never closes. This means that guests would have to ask for permission to go outside. It's got bates motel written all over this hotel. The passing trains will help with the removal of dead guests. Avoid the weirdness before you even attempt to go in. Weird as hell.

The hotel is an old building in need of a bit of TLC, that said , our room was clean, comfortable and I was happy to stay there

Reading the reviews, i was dreading staying in this hotel. The room is very modern and has a smart tv with access to netflix. there is a guest information book. The pictures on trip advisor do not do it justice. The bar staff are very friendly and very helpful.. The location is good as , it’s directly across from the train station.

On entering the hotel there is an unpleasant smell, a bit like old-fashioned urinal cake/cleaning fluid. The decor is also incredibly dated, giving the overall impression of having travelled back to circa 1985. We were here for lunch. The menu is quite small, usual pub suspects available. I had a roast, which was a generous portion. Unfortunately the vegetables were all brick hard, completely undercooked. My mum had soup, which came with a piece of heat and serve "baguette". This was so white and unbaked as to be inedible. The soup was greasy, and with an unappealing texture. This would be less galling if it had been incredibly cheap, but it wasn't.

This is a very run down hotel. The room we were in was very damp, the paint peeling of the walls, curtians badly faded. The skirting boards all damaged not sure if the are rotting or just bashed. The public spaces were OK and the staff helpful, the restaurant good.
