Antigua stay for a volcano experience

Good central spot
Nice open square by the Cathedral. Unusual fountain to check out. Lots of ladies selling their wares as well as other shops around the perimeter. Some seating. The Arch is not far from here along one ...

Hang out and people watch
Great place to just hang out and people watch. Check out the Fuente de las Sirenas. And on the east end of the park is Catedral San Jose.

A must see when in Antigua
It is a nice park with pleasant building surrounding the square. You haven't visited Antigua if you haven't been to the park.
