Originally part of the city walls, it defended the city and monitored maritime traffic. During the Ottoman Empire, it guided ships in the Golden Horn Bay. This lively area features a standout stall offering chicken rice, a delightful first for us during our Istanbul visit. Plus, you'll find plenty of cafes and coffee shops around the tower.
