Songde Temple is located on the Su Tie Road west of the ancient city. The direction to Su Tie Mountain and Qingmai University requires cycling or taxi. The temple was built in the 14th century to commemorate the famous monk Mahattarasumana, who came to Chiang Mai from Sri Lanka to lecture and lived there. Songde means "garden" in Thai. It is also the seat of a Buddhist university, with many monks. The pagodas here are very distinctive. There are dozens of dazzling pagodas of different sizes, surrounded by a bell-shaped gold pagoda. These white pagodas are also Royal cemeteries. Just look at them. No pictures are recommended. In addition, the huge main hall is also worth seeing, the front with golden patterns mosaic, extraordinary style. There is a large bronze Buddha sitting in the hall, which is said to be the largest in Thailand. The hall is very high, with many beautiful giant blue-bottomed gold columns and red-bottomed gold beams. There are no fences around it. It is unique to replace them with iron railings.
