這是亞洲歷史最悠久的大學。校園始建於1611年，擁有不同的歷史性建築和開放的空間，尤其是有全步行的廣場，給遊客一種置身於歐洲城市的感覺。它的許多教員項目是第一個在菲律賓提供的。這裡是初次和非初次的遊客在馬尼拉一定要去的地方。聖托馬斯大學是菲律賓或者東南亞地區最古老的大學，建於西班牙殖民時期。

作為菲律賓這邊最出名的大學，聖托馬斯大學已經有400多年的歷史，可以說是這個國家最頂尖的學校，在歷史上也出了相當多的菲律賓本土名人，校園的建築風格都是比較的歐美風格，很多建築都是西班牙時期留下來的，這邊的圖書館裏面也是挺好的，不過，因為要學生證才能進去，所以的話就只能在外面逛一下。
