鼓山不收費，但是湧泉寺需要買門票。湧泉寺在山頂，有景區車直達湧泉寺的。若是外地來福州旅遊，鼓山玩的話建議還是購票参觀下湧泉寺。湧泉寺是福建很有歷史和名氣的一座寺廟，內部有不少歷史文物，環境清幽，還有很多摩崖石刻。

寺建在海拔455米的鼓山山腰，前為香爐峰，后倚白雲峰，有“進山不見寺，進寺不見山”的奇特建築格局。相傳它的舊址為“華嚴寺”。鼓山人氣是鼓山湧泉寺
