Many cities in China have Nanhu or Nanhu Park. By contrast, Nanning's Nanhu Park is relatively large. Legend has it that during the Jingyun period of the Tang Dynasty, Simaluren of Yongzhou collected migrant workers to build dikes and build lakes by diverting water, thus restraining floods and forming the present South Lake. Over the years, people have planted trees and flowers along the lake, built galleries and pavilions, and created scenic spots. In the 1970s, it was officially opened as a park, featuring extensive planting of subtropical flowers and trees. There is also a Baise Uprising Exhibition Hall of Li Ming-rui-wei-baqun in the park for the commemoration of the world.
