Empress market Karachi is one of the important historical sites and marketplace in Pakistans Karachi city. Located in the ancient city it's a very nice building with the green and beautiful ground around. Many tourists come to visit and for shopping. love to visit this place again.

In order to supply daily eatable foods items to British soldiers and officers a Camp was set up in Pretty Street during 1839. People started to come here from all parts of Karachi and thus it became a popular place. Seeing its popularity the British government decided to establish a market here. The governor of Bombay Sir James Fergusionlaid foundation stone of this market in1884. This market was completed in 1889. After completion it was named after British empress ( Queen Victoria ) as EMPRESS MARKET.It was constructed with Red stone with a watch tower of 140 ft height. The building is still in good condition.Nearly all buses of the city passes from here therefore all passengers of these buses also have a chance to visit the market for their requirements.Almost every type of household items are available in this market at very reasonable price. This markets inner side is famous for all types of dry fruits and all types of spices. Whereas the outer market is famous for all type of fruits. One can find every type of fruit at very reasonable prices and comparatively cheaper than other places of the city.
