Parque Eduardo VII / Eduardo VII Park is north of Marquis Pombar Square, the starting point of Lisbon Freedom Avenue. The park is built along a hillside with a large lawn in the center and tree-lined avenues on both sides. On the hillside stands a sculpture of a coup d'etat to overthrow fascist rule and establish a democratic system. The monument is called "Awakening on April 25, 1974". The park's lawn is like a huge green carpet that runs straight to the foot of the white Marquis of Pombar statue. On the far hill, the yellow wall hidden in the green bushes is the Castle of Saint Jorge, and below is the Lower City of Pombar; farther away, the deep blue River Teru is like a ribbon, with white clouds floating in the blue sky. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. There are also botanical gardens in the park, where a pool of clear water, a few wild ducks and swans are leisurely inside; one end of the pool is sculpted with a statue of the sea horse goddess, the other end is a flower house, where visitors can have a rest and recreation. To Lisbon, Edward VII Park is one of the must-see attractions.
