The husband and I sampled another ramen joint on our food tour of Japan. As an American, I do love dairy and feel that it is underrepresented here in Japan. So, I was very pumped to try this local flavor of ramen with cheese. We tried eating here on a Friday, but it was closed. We asked a kind gentleman walking by what time it opened and he said 6. Mind you, it was 6:40. Google translate could only go so far in helping us to communicate, but we ultimately figured out that it was not open and he didn't know why. So we went to a place around the corner - Horumon-ya Take, which I also reviewed. The next night, our hotel called in advance and made a pseudo reservation. The ramen came out quickly with 3 slices of wine cheese on top. We were expecting shredded. Then, with the help of a translation sheet, the host instructed us to stretch the cheese as it melted so that its shape resembled a noodle and eat the ramen as you normally would (slurping, spoon, and sticks). We did. The cheesy bites were very yummy. The ramen itself though, seemed rather plain, potentially even sub par. I'd like to give this place a 3.5, because the cheese made the ramen above average, but not quite a four. But alas, no half bubbles in TA. Bottom line: worth trying if you have a few meals to eat out.
