I went in August which meant it was packed with tourists and families. Had to wait in line for about 90 minutes to get onto the Ximatan Gondola. The gondola ride itself is impressive and lasts about 20-30 mins all up (have to take two gondolas to get to the top). It was cloudy at the top but the sun came through for a short while and there was a lovely view. I was encouraged to rent a thick jacket and take oxygen with me - jacket wasn't necessary at all. It was colder than in the city of course but I stayed in a t-shirt most of the time and found my jumper was more than enough for when the cloud got thicker. A jumper and a raincoat/windbreaker kind of top layer should generally be fine in summer, maybe pack a thermal layer if you're worried. As for the oxygen, I used some of it but would have been okay without it. I'm 25 and fit, so didn't feel the effects of thinner air like some older people were. You could buy a bottle to be safe but if you're young and fit you should be okay. Time spent at the top of the mountain was less than two hours - there's a walk up stairs to the glacial lake (I took it slowly) and a forest path you can go through too. Overall, a nice place - would be even better on a clear day but seems pretty hard to come by those when you're up that high!
