Founded in 1876, it is the only Russian Byzantine Church in Wuhan. In 2013, the Hankou Orthodox Church was listed as an important cultural relic maintenance building. As an important relic of Russian businessmen in Wanli tea ceremony, the renovation work "as old as old" was completed in 2015. There is another sign "Wuhan Sino-Russian Relations Exchange Hall" at the church door.

At that time, the church had its own characteristics in the church buildings of various countries in Wuhan. This place was originally the Russian Concession in Hankou. Although the first concession in Hankou was not opened by the Russians, the Russian Concession in Hankou was the first concession opened by the Russians in China. For the Russians, the reason for choosing to open the concession in Hankou is not complicated, just because of the tea.
