Great bar for beer and cocktails. Old fashioned, margarita and espresso martini were all fantastic

Monday night anywhere is a pretty rubbish night to go out, and it appears Cape Town is no exception. They have live music here six days a week except - you guessed it Mondays, hence the place was empty. Unusually they don&apos;t sell any cola products here. The staff were lovely and the drinks a fair price but the ambiance was obviously lacking so we moved on quickly.  Would love to go back to see what happens on a different night.

Was staying across the road for a week so popped in several nights including a First Thursday. Decent coffee during the day and enjoyed the evenings with a real variety of live music every night. Surprised by the comments about the staff as we found the bar staff and the security staff really sound and didn’t see any issues. Would be happy to have it as my local

Unfriendly service from bartenders and extremely aggressive behaviour from the bouncers. The bouncers were unnecessarily rude and confrontational, creating a tense and unwelcoming environment. The poor service and hostile security staff really ruined the experience. I have read through several reviews, and while the owners consistently respond to these types of complaints, it is clear they lack the ability or willingness to change the environment.

I had heard a lot of good things about the House of Machines so when I got the opportunity to visit, I immediately grabbed it. This quaint bar is located on a small road with some outside seating on the street as well as inside. The atmosphere in the bar is carried all the way from its exciting design and décor to the staff - for example, they keep their house brand liquors in what looked like barrels. The staff were very friendly and made us feel special by finding out what we like and then suggesting drinks based on that. We started off with a coffee, which was very tasty, and then proceeded to grab some beers. They had some local crafts available on tap including a beer that was brewed exclusively for them. Next time I visit, which I definitely will be doing, I will sample some of their cocktails which seem to be very popular. If you love quaint bars, this is a must visit for you.
