I've been client of Gails for years and unfortunately was "too busy" to notice how tired and overwhelmed their staff appear. Most of them are clearly there 'just for money' and as a result we as customers get a poor vibe from the bakeries. Also I'd like to mention that I had many experiences when the staff had no training and I had to explain how things worked (coffees style, bundle, etc). And it's not their fault. I get the feeling that they expanded without a good admin team behind and now provide a poor customer services (in store and office via emails).

Love that it's been there for ever and is the other end of the spectrum from a chain cafe. Good food/tea/coffee, really cosy - and if the weather is OK you can sit under a beautiful tree and watch the world go by on the river and path.
