Note to any prospective guests: view only most recent reviews. Ignore older reviews, as I think this motel might be under new management that doesn't have a clue what North American minimum standards are for a hotel/motel room. I occasionally ”slum” it, to save a few bucks. In this case I thought too to support one of the independents instead of the chain hotels in the area. This was the worst hotel room I've ever stayed at in my life. If the cost was $50/night, instead of $150, it would have still been overpriced. Room was in ”fair” shape, with a hole in the bathroom door (only on one side though). The frame around the entrance door had the appearance that maybe someone had tried to kick it in at one point. As a result the deadbolt was out of alignment and I couldn't lock it from the inside. Air conditioner was loud, thus not much use at night. It had fan settings of loud and louder. The button on it that appeared to be a night/sleep setting yielded one of the louder options. I could have tolerated all of the above if it weren't for the horrible stench of old cigarette smoke in the room. Looking at other reviews, this appears to be common, even though it's supposedly all non-smoking and they even have a strict warning on the agreement about smoking in rooms. How does a room with a non-smoking decal on the door smell like it had been lived in by a chainsmoker for the past 20 years? At times my eyes were mildly irritated, the smell was so bad. I thought I was getting a buzz off it, but then that was probably the wildfire smoke. I'm at home now washing my clothes to get the stench out. Smokers are such awful people; why do we tolerate them in society still? Just awful. Stay away. Pay the extra $50 and stay at the Fairfield or whatever.
