Chasing Mount Fuji & Adrenaline in Kawaguchiko
#newyearnewtrip #travelanywhere Our day began early as we boarded the Shinkansen from Tokyo, heading to Kawaguchiko Station. The crisp air of early winter was already settling in, the trees outside starting to show their autumn colors fading into the chill of the coming season. As we settled into our seats, we unpacked our train bento boxes, filled with delicious Japanese favorites that warmed us up against the cool morning. The rhythmic hum of the train and the growing excitement of what lay ahead made the journey all the more enjoyable.
Arriving at Kawaguchiko, we hopped on the Fujikyuko Line to Shimoyoshida Station. The air was brisk as we hiked up to Arakurayama Sengen Park, where we were rewarded with a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji towering behind the iconic Chureito Pagoda. The autumn leaves, now tinged with the first hints of winter’s touch, surrounded the scene, making it feel like we had stepped into a painting. The quiet of the park, the fresh mountain air, and the snow-capped peak of Fuji created a moment of pure serenity, and we lingered there, soaking it all in.
Next, we took a bus to Oishi Park, where the views of Mount Fuji over Lake Kawaguchiko were even more stunning against the clear blue sky. The cool, crisp air filled our lungs as we wandered through the park, the first signs of winter creeping in with the quiet stillness of the lake. We treated ourselves to lavender soft serve ice cream from the Oishi Park Cafe, its sweet creaminess offering a refreshing contrast to the chill in the air.
The day took a lively turn as we boarded a train to Fuji-Q Highland, where the thrill of roller coasters awaited. The cool weather made the rush of wind from the coasters even more exhilarating, and we couldn't help but laugh as we plunged through loops and twists, the cold air biting at our faces. It was the perfect way to break the serene mood of the morning and get our blood pumping.
We also explored the Naruto x Boruto Fuji Hidden Village of Konoha, stepping into the vibrant world of anime. The detailed sets and immersive atmosphere made us feel like we had entered a whole new world. Naturally, we stopped by Ichiraku Ramen for a steaming bowl of noodles, the warmth a welcome comfort in the cooling air.
As the day wore on, we continued exploring Fuji-Q Highland, riding more coasters and enjoying the lively, festive atmosphere. By the time we finished, we were ready for a simple but satisfying dinner at Nakau, the perfect end to a day of fun and exploration.
The bus ride back to Shinjuku Station in Tokyo brought us back to the glowing city lights, but the memories of Fuji stayed with us. The crisp air, the changing leaves, and the thrilling adventures made this day feel like a perfect balance of autumn’s calm and winter’s excitement.
