Nantou Day Trips: Qingjing's Tranquility and Xitou’s Quirkiness
#favouriteitinerary #travelanywhere Our day trips in Nantou were a highlight of our Taiwan trip, combining nature, charm, and unforgettable moments. Here’s a quick look at our perfect day exploring Qingjing and Xitou:
Day Trip 1: Qingjing, Nantou
We began our journey from Taichung, staying at Shin Sai Bashi hotel, just a short walk from Taichung station. After catching a bus from Gancheng, we headed to Qingjing Farm, a peaceful mountain retreat. The scenic bus ride lasted just over two hours, with the added bonus of discounted tickets to the farm.
Arriving around 10:00 am, we were greeted by vast green fields, Swiss-style buildings, and friendly sheep. We fed the sheep using food from vending machines, which was a fun and magical experience. After exploring the farm, we enjoyed matcha soft serve made with goat’s milk and local delicacies like braised tofu salad and noodle soup. The serene atmosphere made Qingjing a perfect escape.
Day Trip 2: Xitou, Nantou
The next day, we took a bus to Xitou, known for its mystical, monster-themed village. The bus ride was two hours, leading us to a whimsical spot straight out of Spirited Away. We explored Yaoguai Cun Shopping District, grabbing bubble tea and browsing monster-themed souvenirs.
For lunch, we ate at Monster Village Lai Yi Ke, where we had delicious pot-fried noodles and porridge. Afterward, we wandered through the village, enjoying the quirky monster decorations. Xitou’s blend of folklore and fantasy made it an unforgettable stop.
Conclusion
Both Qingjing and Xitou offered unique experiences—Qingjing’s peaceful mountains and playful sheep, and Xitou’s whimsical, monster-filled village. These day trips made our Taiwan adventure truly memorable.
