Beitou's Best: Thermal Valley & Hot Spring Egg
#newyearnewtrip #travelanywhere Day 2 morning of our Taiwan trip was a perfect blend of natural wonders, local flavors, and peaceful moments. We began by taking a smooth and scenic metro ride from our cozy lodging in Ximending to Xinbeitou Station. The ride was short yet delightful, setting the tone for what was to come.
Upon arriving at Xinbeitou Station, we were immediately enveloped by the cool, refreshing air of the Beitou area. A quick 15-minute walk led us to our first stop—Beitou Thermal Valley 地熱谷, a place that felt almost otherworldly. As we approached, the distinctive smell of sulfur filled the air, and steam began to rise from the valley, creating an ethereal, almost mystical atmosphere. The valley, with its tranquil pools of clear, steaming waters in shades of emerald and jade, looked like something out of a dream. It was a peaceful yet awe-inspiring sight, and we stood there for a few moments, taking it all in, feeling the warmth of the steam on our faces.
After soaking in the beauty of the valley, we made our way to Tea Colors Cafe 茶色, a charming spot known for its Hot Spring Egg. This was no ordinary egg—it had a depth of flavor that was unlike anything we had ever tasted. The egg, infused with the minerals of the hot spring water, had an earthy richness that was both comforting and refreshing. Adding a sprinkle of their special pepper salt mixture elevated the experience, giving it a perfect balance of spice and savoriness. Each bite was a revelation, and we savored the unique flavors as if we were tasting a piece of Beitou itself.
Next, we headed to the Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch 臺北市立圖書館 北投分館, a hidden gem nestled amidst the lush greenery of the area. The library’s modern design, with its open, airy spaces and floor-to-ceiling windows, seamlessly blended with the natural beauty surrounding it. Inside, the atmosphere was calm and serene, offering the perfect spot to reflect on the morning’s experiences. The soft rustling of leaves outside and the quiet hum of the library created a peaceful retreat where we could unwind and appreciate the harmony of nature and architecture.
It was the ideal way to end our tranquil morning in Taiwan, leaving us feeling rejuvenated and at peace.
