🦆 Purple Garden 紫光园 · Qianmen Dashilan — A Delicious Late-Night Surprise

This was one of those magical travel moments where you stumble upon something unexpectedly good. I randomly walked into 紫光园(前门大栅栏店) for a simple supper, and ended up discovering a gem. They were offering a whole Peking duck for just 99 RMB, and I figured — why not give it a try? To my surprise, the duck turned out equally delicious as some of the more famous (and much pricier) Peking duck restaurants in Beijing. Crispy skin, juicy meat, and balanced flavour — nothing felt inferior at all. At this price point, it’s honestly unbeatable. After finishing the meal, I checked the local reviews and realised this place is actually highly rated among locals, which explains the quality. Sometimes, the best travel memories come from spontaneous decisions — getting a little lost, walking into a random shop, and being pleasantly surprised by what you find. A great supper spot with authentic taste, friendly pricing, and a warm local vibe.
