Senior couple visiting for first time. Wild weather for 2 days but the staff were excellent. Well maintained room - bed was so comfortable. You must remember to book your breakfasts the night before. Dinner was great - huge parmies and veggies were good.

Nice rooms, comfy bed, good shower, clean and easy parking. Bistro meals are good with plenty of variety and cold beer. There is also a small bottle shop bottle shop and supermarket next door to the motel. All easy, staff friendly and efficient.

We stayed one night at this htel and ate at the bistro. Not the nicest lookig building, but we were pleasantly surprised to find our room was nice, with all amenities, comfortable beds, adequate bathroom. The meals we had; barramundi and Tbone steak were nice; man sized portions and fresh. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Good value dining, a menu that does actually get updated and changed , and a selection of starter and main course daily specials, plus speedy and friendly service. The Heemskirk bistro offers good value 'go to' meals such as a roast of the day, schnitzels and parmies but is also a good place to find a reasonably priced curry made by the Sri Lankan chef that also includes a gigantic poppadom. In recent visits have had some great specials including the fish of the day pan fried Barramundi, lamb backstrap with couscous and a real winter warmer rabbit stew with mashed potato !!. Salad and veggie options also available. Would highly recommend.

My last review of dining at the Heemskirk was certainly not favourable, however on my latest visit I was extremely pleased to see a return to an extensive menu & excellent food! A vegetarian option is now included, along with several fish options. I had the salmon dish with vegetables & it was excellent! Beautifully cooked & served with a delicious lemon cream sauce. Great to see a return to more than just meat options, thank you!

My husband and I are very pleased with our accommodation at this hotel. The rooms are very well maintained, clean, have aomfortable warm bed and everything you need for a relaxing stay. The price is good too, having stayed at some pretty ordinary accommodation elsewhere that was much more expensive. The restaurant also has excellent food. The staff in the hotel and restaurant are very helpful, efficient and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel.

Went to the Heemskirk with family for a celebratory birthday dinner, as we have eaten there quite often and found the meals to be excellent and the menu options to be fairly good. Not this time however! Menu was very limited, with no vegetarian option whatsoever, no specials available and ‘fish of the day’ was a deep fried seafood basket. THIS IS NOT FISH!!! The only option for three adults in our group was the kids fish and chips! We were so disappointed that we decided it was a better option to drive the half hour to Strahan, where we had an excellent and very enjoyable birthday meal. Dining options in Zeehan are very limited, so it’s a shame that the Heemskirk seems to think that they don’t need to make any effort to entice customers. Standards seem to have dropped, with waitstaff looking very unprofessional, no consistent dress code or uniform. So disappointing, as I have previously reviewed the Heemskirk and given it an excellent review.

We stayed elsewhere in Zeehan for two nights but had dinner at the Heemskirk one night. It was good (and far better than the other place we ate at). Dining room was quite busy, mainly with local workers rather than tourists, but service was reasonably prompt. We had the Sri Lankan beef curry (a special) and the chicken schnitzel, both of which satisfied. Drinks reasonably priced too. Would readily eat here again.

The Heemskirk Motor Hotel in Zeehan offer a great range of food. The meals are fantastic and priced great. We regularly stop in here for lunch or dinner and have always been happy with the quality of food and service.
