This pub with rooms above charges 50% too much for what the guest experiences. There is such a mismatch. Brand new huge fluffy bath towels and raggy bath mats. Staff walking straight into the room without knocking yet really pleasant. Fresh milk in a fridge but poor quality coffee. The bed linen had paint on. The huge roll top bath a real plus with chipped toothbrush holder and chipped soap dish. Chipped saucer served downstairs. Great colour scheme and art with some furniture which I wouldn’t give away; almost like they ran out of money. The wardrobe actually smelt as though it hadn’t been opened for several years. The air conditioning didn’t cool the room which was big and the road noise meant you couldn’t open the windows. The curtains which were drawn because there are no blinds and it is part over looked ; they were dark brown and the fabric transparent from 1950s. To be clear there is no on site parking however you can pay the local council and stay over night.I won’t list the rest because if you are still reading I’m assuming you won’t book or perhaps that I’m exaggerating; sadly I’m not. After some discussion at point of departure the team did reduce our 205 pounds per night to 175. So not worth this. This is a pity with a friendly team.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Crown. Great things about it - comfy big bed, big, soft pillows, nicely designed room with all the mod cons and little touches you need for a great stay. Thanks for the milk and water in the fridge and the great products in the bathroom. The towels were soft and flufy and the bath robes a nice touch. We had an early start for the triathlon on the Saturday so could only have breakfast on the Sunday as it starts at 9am. It was great. Service was great and the food excellent. Top tips for a great stay. If you are sensitive to traffic noise, ask for a room at the side or the top room. Ours was facing the main road and was a little noisy in the morning but not too bad. It would have been great if one of the blinds was working. We couldn't adjust it down or up so it was either dark or light. It needs fixing but it's a little thing and overall I'd stay agin in a heartbeat it was great.

This is a great place to stay , the staff were excellent and very helpful especially with our bikes. Breakfast really nice. We did have a couple of very minor issues with housekeeping but these rectified as soon as we mentioned. We would stay again

Service atrocious, order breakfast and drink at 10.30am, was twice advised food on its way. 45 mins later told mix up in kitchen with orders, food would be further delayed. Asked for refund and left. Unacceptable very poor service.
