In many ways, this is a terrific hotel. The staff is great. The rooms are nice. Conveniently located to many professional offices and dining spots on Cleveland's East Side. Nice pool and facilities. Even a little snack shop attached to the front desk. Easy walking access to one of Cleveland's best steak houses. For most travelers, it's an excellent choice.
But I'm old (70 ) and have a few mobility issues, so I booked a mobilty/accessible room. And a lot of it was well designed. The room was spacious and would easily accommodate a wheelchair or rocker. There are even two peepholes at the front door, one at a lower-level for easier wheelchair access.
However, for reasons best known to the hotel management, the bathroom in the mobility rooms has a step-over bathtub. I'm not sure how they envision that a wheelchair or walker-using guest would make it in. The floor of the tub is also unusually slippery. I always gripped the safety bars with at least one hand while showering, which made the showering process difficult. I asked the front desk for a bath mat, but they said they didn't have one.
So this is fine hotel for regular travelers. But for those with any mobility issues - or even just a few balance problems - this hotel may not be the best choice.
