I thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay at The Wayside and will definitely stay here again. Emiko and Dorie were so welcoming and looked after me, the food was great and room was very clean and comfortable. I also enjoyed the whisky tasting. If you're a fan of whisky it's definitely the place to stay if only for one night.🌙 I highly recommend a stay at the The Wayside 👌🏽 W Gordon.

A lovely stay with Emiko and her super small and friendly team. Set against a beautiful backdrop of hills, a waterfall and some cows is a gorgeous renovated stone building that is spotlessly clean inside and ofcourse has a well stocked whisky barn. Last night we had the pleasure of being guided through just a few (OK 9) whiskies by Emiko, led by her own palette and flavour notes about each one we made informed choices and were not disappointed. Such a pleasure to enjoy such a personal tasting in a very relaxed intimate environment, so different to a tasting in a distillery where there is always motivation to make a sale but this was not the case at all with Emiko who was so kind to spare some of her own time to share her knowledge. With only 4 rooms it is a very peaceful accommodation and the beds were extremely comfortable (we were in the twin room) All the food (I think) is locally sourced and you can taste the quality of produce used for sure. I think the best scrambled eggs I've had in my 39 years of breathing and the fishcakes were sooooo good. Menu is small and changes often but I would say really great value and tasty after a day in the hills. Felt very welcomed during our stay and would not hesitate to book again when visiting the Lakes. Thank you to Emiko and the lovely lady serving our meals for being charming hosts.

My stay at The Wayside and Whisky Barn was truly one of the best accommodation experiences I’ve ever had. The hospitality was excellent, the atmosphere was cosy, the entrance was peaceful, there was good parking and strong Wi-Fi, plus a great location — not far from the sea (though not within walking distance) and just a 16-minute drive to Muncaster Castle, with easy access to the lakes. And the price was very reasonable. But what stood out the most to me was the immaculate cleanliness of the place. Just before entering the guest rooms, you’re asked to take your shoes off at the bottom of the stairs — and I loved that! The entire property was sparkling clean. The Wayside also holds a 5-star food hygiene rating, and the breakfast bread is homemade by Emiko herself. I found the breakfast really satisfying — perfectly spiced, with both hot and cold options available. One of my favourite features was the charming bar shelf filled with a selection of handpicked whiskies. Dear Emiko, who is both kind and welcoming, truly knows how to win the heart of a traveller and make The Wayside and Whisky Barn unforgettable. I genuinely enjoyed my stay — I hope you get the chance to go and enjoy it too!

Amazing stay, very hospitable and a great place to relax and reset. We had the pleasure of dining on one of the evenings and we can highly recommended the experience. Will definitely return.

From the moment we arrived at the Wayside and Whiskey Barn, we were made to feel extremely welcome. Everywhere was spotless. Our bedroom was well appointed with tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh milk. The bed was extremely comfortable. Emiko was the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble, she was very knowledgeable about anything local and also about the 180+ whiskeys in the bar. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and served by the wonderful staff. All in all we couldn’t fault this wonderful find

Stayed here for the weekend in the annexe room and what a lovely, comfortable time we had. It was so clean and well presented with lovely touches in our room. The breakfast was delicious and put us on for our adventures for the day. We had dinner one evening, again delicious and lovingly all home made. Thank you Emiko and the lovely lady that was helping you, we were made to feel right at home and will def be back one day!
