Reception staff/Spa Staff: 5 stars Grounds: 5 star Spa: 5 star Room: 5 star Dinner: 4 stars Breakfast: 1 Star As above, the princess Marlborough suite was excellent. Cigar selection decent. Your nice and remote and feels like your in a little countryside bubble . Don’t eat breakfast.

Really not up to par for what’s advertised as super 5*! Had to change rooms in archival because ours was smoked out from the kitchen. The suite was nice and generally well appointed but still issues! Notably the hairdryer was missing the safety filter on the back so i caught up and burnt off a huge chunk of my hair. Turn down service came early and when asked to come back later, didn’t. The room was generally noisy and I was particularly miffed at being woken up 08:10 by staff loading their trolley outside the door for 15 mins having a chat and bashing about. Why store toiletries in a cabinet outside one of your best suites is beyond me! There was no way to know about breakfast and when we called down to reception late after supper they said they would take an order but couldn’t tell us what our options were. Ended up paying a £30 ish for one coffee and some cold mini pastries. Spa changing facilities are very impressive BUT having been in them once we didn’t go back. Both the pool & jacuzzi were full of dirt and sand and no explanation from staff when asked. Massages very average at best. Lots of equipment in the pool area didn’t work. Plus sides… resturant is great. Bar was good. Built environment impressive. Service needs serious attention. We were told a manager would be in contact, 3 weeks later, nothing.

The RUDEST front of house staff we have EVER experienced. I seriously feel people need to second guess whether or not the hospitality service is for them. I am 37 weeks pregnant and due to reconstruction at our home my husband and I wanted to book the largest suite at the hotel for a week for the first week of our son's life to rest whilst our home was being completed. I'm not sure if it's because we don't meet the ethnic profile of their usual clientele but they wouldn't even let us get past security. The nonchalant and rude tone taken even left the security guard apologising on the Managers behalf. So upset and humiliated and hurt that we are still facing this level of low regard in 2025. I really wish I had recorded the interaction it would have gone viral showcasing the preduice and lack of compassionate service some niche, traditional luxury hotels still uphold. Heartbroken.

My husband and I booked two nights at the Langley to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I informed the hotel prior to check-in that this was special occasion but no acknowledgment was made throughout our stay (despite us having Bonvoy Platinum status). The hotel located in a beautiful countryside and the hard product is fantastic. The outside of the hotel is simply stunning and it is clear, no expense was spared to decorate the rooms. What really lets this hotel down, is the service, from the front desk to the bar and breakfast, all staff look and behave like they would rather be somewhere else. This put us off eating in the hotel and we chose to dine elsewhere. Breakfast is limited; continental or cooked option. A single dish has to be selected, basket of rolls and pastries is brought to the table. It was obvious on the second day (Sunday) that the bread was bought the previous day and simply reheated in the oven before serving. What was advertised as freshly squeezed orange juice, was clearly just a juice from a carton. I do have to complement the concierge, who helped us with our luggage delivered by BA to a wrong location. He organised a trusted driver to bring the luggage and kept us informed throughout. This is much appreciated. Overall, the hotel has a huge potential but let’s itself down but simply not caring about customer experience.

We went on a spa escape with my fiancee for her birthday. We stayed for only 1 night and had spa treatments that were included in our package. The staff throughout were excellent, they had our room ready at lunchtime to allow for an early check in and the front desk were all very friendly. As were the staff in the spa, the barstaff and the restaurant staff for breakfast. I couldnt fault the service while we were there. We had a brewhouse room with a terrace which was nice to sit out in with a beer in the evening. Despite the changeable weather we were able to have a nice walk around the grounds on the Saturday. The spa was very quiet and calm which was exactly what we were looking for in a countryside weekend retreat. The treatments were excellent and we were albe to enjoy the jacuzzi afterwards. The only downside was that the indoor swimming pool was out of order while we were there, which was a shame as the weather was too bad to enjoy the outdoor pool on the day. Besides that it was a great stay and we wouldn't hesitate to return again in the future.

Personal service at the highest level. Wonderful amenities and the most comfortable beds. But best of all was Adam.. who greeted us when we arrived! he was so friendly and helped us with our rooms, gave us the run-down of all the amenities - so professional and such a high level of customer service - thanks Adam !!

Great property (smells divine, good rooms and comfortable bed), absolutely terrible service. No early check in as gold client (was promised by email and hotel was not full), got told reservation could not be at 8pm as restaurant full but was empty when we went (literally the only ones), and meeting rooms noisy and door didn’t work. Spa was also a zoo (all wet and kids stayed in there beyond their designated time). We left our business retreat earlier than planned.

My husband and I were invited by Boodles to be guests of their tennis event at Stoke Park. Stoke Park is currently closed for renovation so I looked for a hotel in the area to stay at and found The Langley. The hotel looked stunning, and I booked a Junior Suite in the main house online through the Marriot App. Communication prior to arrival was good in terms of quantity, but on several occassions details were wrong and had to be corrected to what I had requested. ARRIVAL We drove up the long driveway to the hotel. The hotel had asked us before our arrival time and we arrived bang on time. Nobody was there to greet us, (unlike Gleneagles in Scotland or Grantley Hall in Ripon). Nobody were there to take our luggage. I went up the stairs to the main reception and it was empty. I called out 'hello' but nobody came. Two guests appeared from the bar area and one said to me "don't bother, the service in this hotel is crap". Not a good start. After ten minutes a young man from New Zealand appeared and checked us in and sent a porter out to the car to collect the luggage. He gave us a tour of the hotel and showed us to our Room 16, The Lord Marlborough, which had letters missing from its name. The Room was large but badly laid out. There was a note from The Front of House team addressed only to me, not to my husband and I. The bed was in the middle of the room with a large headboard that had double sockets above each bedside table. In front of the bed in the window was a large roll top bath. Not to my taste and especially as this was at the sacrifice of a seating area and blocked the view from the window, a window seat and sofa would have been better but I accept this is personal taste. The only seat was a small chair and foot stool, so if two people wanted to sit and relax one couldn't. The kettle and tea etc was in the wardrobe behind the headboard. Unusually there were no biscuits in the tray and the selection of tea was limited. The only milk was four horrible UHT pods, a five star hotel should provide fresh milk in the fridge of the room. We looked for a plug to boil the kettle and the only one we could find, apart from the ones on the bedside table was under the dressing table and had the hotel tablet plugged into it. Therefore you had to crawl under the dressing table, unplug the table and plug the kettle in on the carpet. If you wanted to dry your hair, again the same obsticle course. The sink in the shower room was tiny and the tap so low you couldn't fit the kettle under the tap so had to use the tap in the shower. The tray in the shower was too small to fit the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. We couldn't get the televison to work and when the concierge came up he said we had to unplug the tv and turn it on again. The plug socket was in the floor under the large cabinet which housed the television, and chilled cabinet which didn't keeps drinks cold at all.
