Site is a short drive out from Wanaka. Our experience wasn't as bad as recent reviews, but we were aware and our expectations were in line. Would agree that current presentation is probably different from that of a few years ago. We were nevertheless received graciously and any needs addressed. We were in a large suite. Room was clean and well appointed.

We booked this hotel because there was an Agri Fair/show going on when we were in Wanaka. Loved the town despite the crowds but this hotel to us was a miss. Read they have new ownership. Liked the bunnies running around. If other hotels are available book elsewhere. Our GPS directions led us to someones private residence. Hotel not maked well. Rooms basic. Place is 5-10 minutes out of town.

The good reviews must have come from when the Lodge was under different ownership. We arrived at the lodge at the same time as another couple and were me by two employees, neither of who could speak English. Both our rooms were double booked although both of our bookings were clearly visible on the computer. Compensation was offered by the manager, who we managed to reach by phone but was never forthcoming, and there was no help at all to find other accommodation at a holiday time when there was very little availability in nearby Wanaka. Luckily a wonderful lady at the tourist office was able to help us. Judging by the look of the lodge it has definitely been let go since the previous owners left. We looked around and found it run down and in need of a good spring clean. We would not advise booking here.

The property is nice, but the rooms, common area and pool/jacuzzi could use some updating. Upon our arrival, the 2 gentleman that were present could not locate our reservation that was made 10 months prior. After a call to our travel agent, it appeared. Rooms are very dated. No iron or ironing board, safe did not work, AC did not turn on. Patio outside room very dirty as were the windows. No lounge chairs at pool and also littered with dead leaves. Breakfast limited, but the host was very friendly. Did not clean rooms during stay or offer fresh towels. Would not recommend or return.

This place was warm and inviting - love the group meals (B/L/D) as I was able to meet and carry on a conversation with people from all around the world. The other guests were from Denmark, the USA (Dallas/North Carolina) and Sweden. The host were very pleasant and accommodating - wanting to meet your expectations and had intimate knowledge of the local area (Wanaka). We (the guests) had a huge meal prepared by our guests during the holiday season (December 2024). I will definitely return to this place for an extended stay.
