Magnifica esperienza in un campo che in realtà unisce l'emozione dello stare nel deserto con molte comodità e agi cui siamo abituati. Tutta la struttura, costituita di 2 corpi centrali (accoglienza e ristorazione) e da una quarantina di "tende" con solide basi di cemento è molto ben distribuita su area ampia per potere godere anche del silenzio e del buio del deserto. Chi si lamenta per i servizi "non da 5 stelle" probabilmente dimentica dove si trovava (assenza di tv e wi-fi non sempre perfetto sono quasi ovvie) e a noi i servizi offerti dallo staff sono parsi sorprendentemente oltre ogni aspettativa. Le tende sono ampie, confortevoli, pulite e con bagni perfetti; colazione e cena (compresi nel prezzo) sono a buffet ma abbondantissime, gustosissime (tra le migliori in Oman) e attente a soddisfare tutti i palati e le necessità alimentari. Il personale è gentile, sorridente, disponibile ma assolutamente defilato per non rovinare la magia del luogo. Arrivare al campo è semplice anche da soli con un auto 4x4 cui dovrete fare sgonfiare un po' le gomme a Bidiyah (allego la foto di uno dei gommisti che per 1 Rial le sgonfia all'andata e ve le rigonfia al ritorno). La strada è sempre dritta e come riferimento potrete prendere la fila di pali della luce che vi guiderà a destinazione. Sia che abbiate già visto altri deserti sia che sia la vostra prima volta consiglio di fare una bella passeggiata tra le dune di sabbia, è un po' faticoso ma bellissimo. Piccolo neo che non intacca il giudizio stra-positivo: i servizi extra a pagamento per le varie gite sono troppo costosi e anche l'accompagnamento con un'auto che ti precede per arrivare al campo non vale assolutamente la cifra spesa. E' un posto davvero incantevole che consiglio a tutti

The staff and service were great. If you have the chance to do some dune bashing on the way, make sure to do it. That was definitely a highlight—exciting and memorable! However, the pool was small and crowded with children, which made it less relaxing. A bigger pool could maybe sort that. Or a second pool. There was also no Wi-Fi, which could be a drawback for some. Additionally, the prices for extras outside the half-board package were on the higher side. Overall, it was a good experience, but with some areas that could be improved. I definitely recommend all to spend some time in the desert

Campement bien équipé, avec des tentes très confortables, bien que la salle de bain pour la catégorie standard soit rudimentaire. Lit immense, climatisation parfaite, mais inutile la nuit en janvier. Le restaurant est immense et le buffet parfait avec des cuissons à la demande pour les produits de la mer. Prévoir une lampe de torche pour rentrer après le dîner à sa tente, il y a des plots lumineux mais suffisamment. Piscine minuscule.

A balanced view. This was our 2nd desert camp. The good points - big buffet restaurant, permanent "tents", super 1hr stargazing by an enthusiastic astronomer. Air conditioned tents with en-suite bathrooms and lots of hot water. But the “tents” are permanent structures made to look like tents. The not so good points - the camp is in the valley so you can't witness the sunset without paying exorbitant prices to be taken up onto the top of the dunes. The dunes in the valley aren't the prettiest, scrub everywhere. Not easy to climb onto the dunes. The activity prices are unreasonable. Looks like many tour groups use it. It's a big! Camp can be 100s. Overall not very authentic. The swimming pool is tiny and didn’t look inviting. The 26 mile drive from Bidya Shell Service station takes about 1hr. Easy enough to follow the telegraph poles all the way. Just one small section to climb the dunes. Escorted transfer cost 20 OMR Much preferred Alsamardi Desert camp which was much prettier, closer to Bidya, smaller, and very communal with fabulous sunsets Not the prettiest of dunes. transfer
