The Lake Isle Restaurant with Rooms

We visited as a family group of fifteen people for our annual pre-Chris**as meet up, and took dinner in the restaurant and eight of the nine bedrooms. Everything was outstanding - from the beautifully decorated dining area and bar to the quality and presentation of the food. We pre-ordered from the a la carte December menu, which had a wide selection of choices, and everything was delicious and promptly and warmly served. The staff were most amenable in catering to our large group, and breakfast next morning was similarly efficiently served and beautifully cooked to order. Our bedrooms ranged from the small cottage to the deluxe suite, but all were very well equipped, spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lake Isle - so much so that we have already booked again for 2024.

We popped in for impromptu dining to be met by unfriendly, bordering on hostile, front of house If we hadn’t already ordered drinks we would have walked straight out, uncomfortably feeling we were either too much trouble or perhaps not quite the “clientele” they were looking for (in which case don’t take the walk-in) We were rushed to our table which was as shame as it would have been nice to grab a drink first from what looked like quite an exceptional wine list the restaurant decor is tired, tatty and entirely the opposite of the food which was absolutely fantastic, clearly a talented chef supported by a faultless waitress We left well fed but let down by the overall experience There’s a great Bistro literally over the road - No 23 if you want to experience the polar opposite that delivers welcoming customer service and great a**osphere bad luck or bad management, you decide…

A birthday treat that delivered. An imaginative menu with a special offer for the month plus a La carte. Food was beautifully cooked and presented and the service was attentive but unobtrusive. I was impressed by our waitress apologising for interrupting us when she came to ask whether we were enjoying our meal. Although the room is not particularly large tables are well spaced and other people’s conversations do not intrude. Don’t expect to rush … for food of this standard be prepared to wait between courses.

After staying at th Lake Isle in July for our wedding anniversary, we decided to return as the experience was so wonderful. We stayed in the ground floor room outside which is perfect for us, it's clean and comfortable. The main reason we returned so quickly though is the food which is truly amazing. The beautiful restaurant adds to the perfect experience. We were certainly not disappointed on our return visit. The staff are delightful and attentive. Overall we had a fabulous stay and will certainly be returning.

We went to Lake Isle for my birthday last year and it was absolutely incredible! We had a 3-course meal and all courses were exceptional, both in terms of taste and presentation. The restaurant itself has a lovely, cosy a**osphere. My partner and I enjoy fine dining and have been to many high-class restaurants over the years; this has definitely been our favourite! It is no surprise that Lake Isle has achieved 2 AA Rosette awards - it certainly deserves a Michelin Star. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

First let me say Uppingham is a lovely place to visit and the Lake Isle is a great place to stay. The 4 Star Establishment as a coaching Inn ticks most boxes but having stayed there I'd like to lend some comments without being unfairly critical of the lovely staff who will look after you....the hotel facilities are good but there appear to be issues with guest room cleanliness...without being over critical we just noticed dust on many surfaces and brown stained inlets on the whirlpool bath..that put us off using it. I think hygiene standards should be as important to hotel management as customers so this spoilt it for us and would not recommend this Establishment...its a shame really because as a Business everything else seems to be in place

What a wonderful place to stay, we had the pleasure of staying in room 2 for the night and we could not fault it at all!! Very comfy room with an excellent vanity area & luxurious bathroom, the owners have very obviously taken time & consideraton when designing this room. Loved the surprise when turning off the tv, didn’t notice to begin with…very clever!!! Food (Dinner & Breakfast) was delicious in the lovely restaurant & the staff are a real credit to this place. 10/10 the lake isle, we will be back x

Had a wonderful one night stay . Everything was amazing . Stayed in room 2 which has clearly been recently renovated. The quality of the fixtures, fittings and design borders on that of a 5 star hotel, especially the bathroom. The restaurant was excellent, super food, very reasonably priced with an excellent wine selection. Breakfast was plentiful, the hot food freshly cooked and quite delicious . The staff were really warm, friendly and accommodating . We were delighted to discover such a gem in the lovely little town of Uppingham. Many thanks to Richard and his team !

Very enjoyable stay (B&B) . Very accommodating with food / drink requirements and comfortable rooms. . Rooms and breakfasts very high quality. Looking forward to returning and meeting our friends there for another 3 night stay. Take care parking which is very tight and limited. Many thanks.
