Arrived at 1am. Night receptionist wasn’t sure what the room layout was (I’d called ahead to book a family room, with the two separate sleeping areas). He gave us directions to the room, we followed the signs, but couldn’t find it. I returned to reception, was given the same useless directions and still couldn’t find it. Returned again to reception, he asked the security guard to take us to the room. The security guard couldn’t find it either! Returned to reception again - the receptionist phoned elsewhere for help with directions and was eventually able to direct us to the room (which was in a different part of the hotel and not as shown on the signs) 50 minutes later. Got there to find we’d not been allocated the correct room. Back to reception again, to be told nothing could be done until the morning. We were offered an alternative room the next day. It’s ok, but the internal sliding doors keep sticking and the bathroom smells of sewage. Also apparently all the family rooms with the two sleeping areas are on the side street at first floor level, so a bit noisy and not a great view. Kids sofa bed has springs poking into them when they lie down, might be ok for very young children. But not great for older ones. Double bed is ok. Would prefer it if sheets and pillowcases were changed daily. Breakfast has a decent variety, but as with our previous stay at the Don Pablo next door, most of the hot food is either cold or tepid at best. The chef arrives with an oven tray of hash browns, but somehow they are cold and a bit dry. I’m starting to think things are cooked the night before. I’m glad we didn’t choose all inclusive. There are lots of restaurants nearby and everything seems to be open in October. The pool areas are nice, however every encounter with the lifeguards has been negative. They all seem to have an aloof attitude. Towel policy is ridiculous. You have to put a deposit down for pool towels at check in and they are meant to last the length of your stay. If you do want a fresh towel though, as you would, they charge €1 each time, which wasn’t made at all clear when we checked in. The towels stink and are musty. Probably because they spend a week lying around damp. Our room has no rail to dry anything on the balcony and it’s in the shade and not warm in October, so they’re never going to dry. The lifeguards jump on anyone daring to throw a ball or take a toy or inflatable into the pool. I get that this might be an issue at the height of summer when the pools are busy, but there have only ever been a few people braving the freezing cold pools at any one time and they are mostly children. What’s the harm? I’ve seen several different children being told off and taken to the sign and told to read the ‘rules’. The indoor pool is a totally different matter. It isn’t lifeguarded and is complete mayhem! Balls and toys being hurled around. Adults trying to enjoy the jacuzzi or swim and being jumped on. The floor is dirty and doesn’t seem to get
