"What an amazing experience! From our initial welcome from Anthony and Pauline., to departing as friends. The B&B is beautiful, clean and classy. We were given a room on the ground floor ( when they saw my husband limping) without any hesitation . The room was spotless and spacious with everything needed. Breakfast was absolutely stunning! The choice of the cold buffet was great, the small and mighty yoghurt pots with fruit they have grown ( where they can) was my personal favourate, but the hot choice was where they excelled! The " full english", was tasty and excellent quality. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, and was probably the best i've ever eaten!! We really didn't want to leave! We are hoping to go back again very soon."

"What a gem. I was looking for a budget friendly hotel for a couple of nights whilst my kiddo was in Exeter with a uni course. Greeted by Steve, who was friendly and informative. We actually arrived a couple of hours early, but he gave us our room key and fob to get in after hours and asked if we could wait for an hour or so before heading to the room. This suited us fine as we wanted to explore Torquay anyway. Booked the cosy room, fully aware that it was one of the smaller ones, but for the price, I couldn't knock it. The room was compact but clean and practical. There was a fan, small fridge, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, and tea and coffee facilities. Everything that you need, really. There was also a TV, but in all honesty, we were not in the hotel room to do more than sleep, so we never switched it on! The ensuite was small,clean, and tidy.. but then all you need is a loo, sink, and shower, I wasn't planning on spending hours in there. The hotel itself was positioned perfectly for us. People say that it's a steep hill (they clearly don't live in Wales ). The hill really wasn't that bad. The hotel was a little dated, but I would argue that it had character. It's not part of a chain, so no, it's not modern, but if you want generic and modern, I am sure a premier inn or travel lodge would be more your thing anyway. The Griffin Bar downstairs was lovely. We didn't have breakfast, but I am guessing that that's where it was served. Clean tidy and lovely staff. Now the pool... what a flipping luxury in the heatwave. Yes, you had to walk through a private area. Yes, there are signs that the proprietor and his family live at the hotel. But I do not believe that this warrants the negative reviews. Did this detract from the use of the pool. No, it did not. The pool had adequate seating around it, and it honestly felt like we could have been anywhere abroad. It was peaceful, private, secluded, and a welcome addition to our stay. I would book again if I was planning to visit Torquay again. Thanks for hospitality. It was much appreciated."
