I arrived by train extremely early in the morning, and staff were kind enough to help me store my bags behind the desk before check-in. The common areas are large and clean, as was my room. I had to leave before breakfast, however, it is included. Although only a five minute walk from the Amtrak train, everything else is a decent (walking) distance away (although that seems typical for Topeka). The hotel itself is massive, which gives it the feeling of being mostly empty. As a solo female traveler I was a little creeped out by the isolation. The hotel had the usual wear and tear, but nothing dramatic. This is overall what I expect from a budget hotel, so I have few complaints.

訪訪客We stopped at this hotel on our way to Denver for night. The hotel seems older and the rooms definitely could use to some refreshing. The closet smelled musty, some black stuff was coming out of the faucet in the shower, and the a/c was super loud, going off and on all night. We always try and book a Fairfield Inn but this one we would pass on if it was more than just one night.
Let me start off by saying the good things first! check in staff was extremely nice and welcoming. She went above and beyond telling a story about Topeka to my children, and informing us about the hotel. We were told from the beginning that the hot tub was not working which was fine, we did use the pool instead. The rooms seem moderately clean and the bed was comfortable. However with all that being said I don’t think I would recommend this hotel for families the room was very cramped and the bathroom situation is not ideal, the shower was built into a rounded pillar (think turret) my 5 year old slipped on the rounded portion while trying to wash her hair and the bathroom vanity being on the outside of the bathroom made it difficult to get up and get ready without waking everyone up, also the toilet ran very loudly. The walls were thin so you could hear everything. My biggest complaint might be that there seems to be a musty smell lingering in the hotel, I’m not sure what it is due to however it didn’t affect the cleanliness but it did linger. Over all it’s not a bad place to stop for one night or even for 1-2 people but for a family of 3-4 specifically with young children I wouldn’t recommend it.
訪訪客This room was in terrible disrepair and needed a thorough revamping! There was something on the carpet that looked like several blood drips in front of the entryway mirror. The shower was not secured to the wall and actually moved when you turned the water on. The sheetrock in the bathroom along the shower was split and the tile was moldy. The carpet going into the bathroom was shredded. The interior privacy curtain was splattered with something dark and dirty. The upholstered chair had nasty looking drips on the seat. The A/C was not working properly. Overall, I would say to stay clear of this place.
The staff was welcoming and helpful, the room was spotless and well-equipped, and the bed was super comfortable. Despite being near a busy area, it was surprisingly quiet. The complimentary breakfast was great, and the parking was convenient. Excellent value and a memorable experience. Highly recommended!
