I reseved/paid for a king premium room at IHG Hotel Indigo Shibuya several months in advance of my Jan 2024 Tokyo trip. After enduring a snowstorm in Vancouver, finally arrived in Tokyo. My initial hotel stay at Sequence hotel turned out to be a wonderful unexpected surprise. Anticipating a similar experience at my second hotel, Hotel Indigo, due to its higher rate and global brand reputation, it was a profound letdown. Despite enduring a 5-hr wait at YVR and compunded by the inevitable jetlag, I was determined to make the most of my day in Shibuya to compensate for the lost time. Regrettably, amid fatigue I overlooked checking the bathroom (who does it anyway since this is no ordinary hotel to make this mistake). I only used the toilet. It was only late at night, after shopping at Don Quixote, that I discovered the hotel has no bathtub thus the conclusion of front desk failure to communicate and assign the right room type. I called and reported this to Front Desk which comes next turn for the worst when the MOD in-charge the time I called regrettably lacking empathy and willingness to listen to the facts, exacerbated the situation. This is the first time in my life to cry while explanaining over and over the fact. A thorough review of my emails and website revealed glaring inconsistencies of the MOD's shallow explanation. Given my background in working a hotel, I am well- acquianted with various aspects in the hotel compared to other guests. Consequently, I am not easily swayed by shallow explanations, and the hotel's epic failure to address the issue with diligence only deepened my belief that this high-rate hotel is not worth your stay in all sense of the word. Next day at the front desk, I wasn't surprised overhearing foreign guests stating to complain through a lot of reasons as well for this hotel. Next month when I come back home, I will have to send a formail complaint to their management. There are a lot of hotels at Shibuya, take note of the other guests unsavory experience at this hotel.
We’re a family of 4, staying 9 nights at the Pullman Tamachi in 2 adjoining rooms. Our experience of the hotel and in particular staff was exceptional. We were generously granted early check in and a very late check out (possibly helped by my Diamond All.Accor status) which made our day of arrival and departure that more easy to manage. Thank you Jakapun (Director of rooms) The rooms were generous in size, very well appointed and laid out. The breakfast in the main restaurant was great with a nice variety of options. Staff were attentive and food was replenished as needed. The location was perfect for us, metres from the main train line linking the busiest stations, yet far way from the hustle to offer a much-needed sanctuary, highlighted by the roof top garden, terrace and executive lounge. Biggest praise goes to the staff of the executive lounge, led by Jordan and Masa and their great support staff. I have yet to see staff anywhere in the world offer the levels of service they all provided during our stay. From asking questions about what we like and had in mind, to offering options, making reservations and sending frequent emails with listed itinerary and instructions, they made our experience in Tokyo a memorable one for my family. Their attention to detail, enthusiasm and pleasure in hearing we had a great day based on their recommendations, made the difference. The hotel is very fortunate to have staff like you all. My family and I truly thank you for your exceptional service and memorable holiday experience. Looking forward to returning in the near future.
