It’s a great hotel to stay, nice room with AC, swimming pool and with amazing views. The employees are very attentive, always asking if you need anything. Dinner and breakfast have little variety to choose from but it is very tasty and comes with a lot. I had curry for dinner and they brought me almost 10 different types of curries and for breakfast they brought me another 10 different dishes. Something to improve would be the extreme attention during lunch/dinner since the waiters would watch you eat and it is a little uncomfortable, but nothing that telling them wouldn't change. I recommend this hotel 100%

This Hotel was one of the best places I have ever been to -- and I have been to over one hundred (100) countries. The room was immaculately clean. The breakfast was fantastic and at a reduced price. Plus, the lunch and dinner are wonderful because the Hotel's restaurant manages an organic farm. So, the fruits and vegetables are exceptional. The Manager was very pleasant and tries to meet all your needs regarding restaurants, tours, and transportation recommendations. Plus, the location was excellent, across the street from a beautiful lake and is very close to the Yala National Park with many wild animals to observe. I now understand why this place is rated so highly in reviews! You will really enjoy your stay at The Rain Tree Hotel.

I stayed in this lovely lakeside hotel for a few nights in October 2023. The location is peaceful and surrouned by nature. You can go to the roof top area of the hotel to get a truly stunning view of the countryside around and the Buddhist stupa which glows golden in the evening light. At around 6pm you can also see the large bats flying around in the evening mists. The owner of the hotel , Upali, is often in residence and is so kind and attentive to his guests, and ready to tell many stories about the area and its history. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms spacious, comfortable , with balconies looking out over the lake. The hotel is also ideally located to visit the Yala game reserve. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area and I am looking forward to a return visit in the near future.

The hotel staff welcomed us with warmth and had food specially prepared for us. We were pure vegeterians The view point on the hotel top is a specialty. The sunrise and thousands of birds during sunrise are spectacular. Would recommend this hotel for all. One of the best hotels I have visited in terms of location and Hospitality

L'hotel è molto carino ed è in posizione ottima per il safari al parco di Yala, la camera tripla che avevamo era molto comoda, ampia e pulita. L'aspetto migliore è però la gentilezza del proprietario e di tutto il personale che ci ha coccolati e ci ha permesso di assistere ad un matrimonio che si è tenuto in hotel durante la nostra permanenza. Anche la colazione e la cena sono state molto buone. Consigliatissimo!

Wir übernachteten im Rain Tree Hotel zwei Nächte und genossen unseren Aufenthalt sehr. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Tissa Lake. Bei unserer Ankunft gab es zur Begrüßung einen Fruchtsaft. Wir lernten den Besitzer des Hotels kennen und er erklärte uns viel zu seinem Hotel und stellte uns seine Angestellten und Auszubildenden vor. Außerdem erfuhren wir , dass er in der Nähe des Hotels auf seinem Grundstück mit der Familie viel Gemüse und Obst pflanzt. Damit versorgt er auch die Hotelküche. Auch gab er uns Tipps für einen Rundgang durch die Stadt und zum Tempel. Wir waren an einem Sonntag in der Stadt und können das nur empfehlen. Viele Menschen badeten in den kleinen Kanälen , ganze Großfamilie und alle hatten ihren Wochenende Spaß. Dies war eine herrliche Stimmung. Am Abend um 18 Uhr stiegen wir auf die Dachterrasse des Hotels um von dort den Sonnenuntergang zu genießen, die wundervolle Aussicht auf den See und die herrlichen grünen Reisfelder. Die Hitze des Tages war fort und ein leichter Wind erfrischte. Pünktlich um 18:30 ging es dann los. Hunderte Flughunde ( die am Tag in den Bäumen gegenüber des Hotels hängen) starteten gleichzeitig. Ein ganz großartiges Spektakel. Ein eisgekühltes Getränk wurde auf die Terrasse gebracht. So ein Ausblick von der Dachterrasse des Rain Tree Hotel auf die Tierwelt ist einmalig. Die Zimmer sind toll ausgestattet und sehr modern gestaltet. Die Betten haben sehr guten Matratzen. Es gibt sogar einen Wasserkocher für Tee oder Kaffee. Jedes Zimmer hat einen Balkon. Zum Abendessen gab es ein srilankesisches Curry mit zweierlei Reis und vielen Schälchen mit leckerem Gemüse. Sehr lecker und sehr reichlich. Am nächsten Morgen ging es zur Safari in den Yala Nationalpark und als wir gegen 12:30 Uhr zurück kamen, bekamen wir noch unser Frühstück serviert. Wir hätten auch ein Essenspaket für die Safari bekommen können. Uns jedoch dagegen entschieden. Wir wollten lieber nach der Safari frühstücken. Auf der Safari gab es vom Guide ein kleines Frühstück und Wasser. Das reichte uns. Nach diesem späten Frühstück haben wir uns am Pool erfrischt. Dieser ist nicht groß aber ausreichend. Beindruckt hat uns auch, dass der Hotel eigene Strombedarf durch Solaranlagen auf dem Dach des Hotels generiert wird. Wir können das Hotel nur empfehlen. Die Gastfreundlichkeit, die Zimmer und das Essen sprechen für sich. Am Abend hatten wir noch das Glück zusammen mit dem Besitzer am See zu spazieren und viele persönliche Eindrücke zur Stadt , dem Land und Tissamaharama zu erhalten. Wir besuchten sein Haus unweit des Hotels und lernten seine Mutter und Bruder kennen. Zwischen den Reisfeldern baut er Gemüse und Obst an. Es gibt dort wirklich alles. Eine frische Kokosnuss frisch geerntet rundete alles ab. Ein sehr schönes Erlebnis. Fragt ihn und er macht den Rundgang gerne.
